Cubs LHP Ted Lilly has a stiff back and won't make his scheduled minor league rehabilitation start for Triple-A Iowa on Friday. The start was pushed back to Sunday. Lilly is on the 15-day disabled list as he recovers from shoulder surgery.

Didn't see it posted elsewhere.

Sky is falling, end of the world, they're lying to us, etc.

Really though, Not a big deal. He was ahead of schedule anyway so this isn't the worst thing in the world so long as it's just a run-of-the-mill stiff back.

He was ahead of schedule? When it first came out he talked of being ready for opening day. Most reports were in April sometime, and a bunch of people just assumed it would be later.

Really? I swear I remember reading that he wouldn't be back until May and then more recently reading something that said he was ahead of schedule..

My guess is that he's probably referring to the May 1st timeline that was commonly cited throughout the offseason and into spring training.

Well, that and when the team said he was ahead of schedule:

The Chicago Tribune[/url]"]MESA, Ariz. (March 13)— Ted Lilly threw off a mound again Saturday and is "ahead of schedule," according to manager Lou Piniella.

As valuable as Lilly is, Id really rather they not rush him back. Besides, so far, starting pitching has been the least of our problems.

Yup, startrs have been very good led by Dempster and Silva. Silva may end up a lifesaver.

Any word on how the surgery has impacted his arm? Was the type of shoulder surgery that he had easier to recover from?

I know that Lilly didn't rely on a great fastball in the first place, but has the surgery affected his ability to throw that big curve? I'm all for the old Ted Lilly coming back, but if he is off at all, I'd prefer he stayed in the minors and rehabbed until he is completely healthy.
