What an asshat. You got to love how he basically places himself on the same level as Woods in terms of their role in the golf world. Jim, you are paid to talk on TV, that's why you can't say naughty words on air. These guys are paid to golf, they can, and do, say naughty words.

And what he said was really super tame! PG-13 at the very worst.

i noticed on sunday that when tiger woods hit a really bad shot, they had the mike on him and left it on for several seconds while he was barking at himself. if CBS is so concerned about people at home not hearing big-boy words, then how about not miking up the players or cutting the mike when a guy hits a bad shot. instead they just bitch and moan about tiger like they had no way of preventing that stuff from getting on tv.

Nance was on the BS report this week he said pretty much said all this on there also he really was not that hard on Tiger his main problem was that Tiger said he was not going do these things anymore. He also said it was partly the media fault in letting him get away with much worse for years. I will say I never heard or saw Phil, Jack or Arnie or anyone else for that matter act as Tiger does.

What? So because Phil, Jack or Arnie never voiced their anger over a missed shot, Tiger is supposed to suppress his, too? That's a pretty tall order from a competitor in any sport.

I am sure they did, but Tiger does seem to be the worst on the tour at it. But he is the most competitive too and he doesn't hide his emotions all the time.

He's also the guy who's on camera the most. I mean, if he's even close to contention you see every single shot he takes.

Jack had a reputation for having a temper for a long time in golf.

Maybe you just have to be older to know these things though. :(

Golf Digest survey of PGA players from last year:

Who has the worst temper on the tour?

Pat Perez: 28 percent

Woody Austin: 24 percent

Steve Flesch: 12 percent

Others receiving votes: Mark Calcavecchia, J.J. Henry, J.B. Holmes, Kent Jones, Frank Lickliter, John Merrick, Kevin Na, Arron Oberholser, Jin Park, Kevin Stadler

Tiger wasn't even mentioned. Most of those guys aren't names you'd see on TV very often.

Jim Nantz would have a stroke if he followed me around a golf course.

This. I practically speak in tongues when I play golf. Big reason why I really hate getting paired up with someone I don't know.

I do a lot more muttering curse words than screaming them on the golf course though. I play with my father in law a lot, and I doubt he notices most of the time. I wonder how many people in the gallery could hear what Tiger said without the aid of a directional mic.

Well, yeah. I'm not screaming so the people on the next fairway can hear me. Anyone riding along with me in a cart or something is definitely subject to my vulgarity. Also anyone on the green/tee box with me at any given moment.

I have golfed with many people at this point in my life, and I can't think of a single one of them who wouldn't mutter a curse word (loud enough to be heard by the mic) when they accidentally lift their head up on their shot and muff the shot entirely.

I don't recall whether cursing was as much a staple in everyday vocabulary back in the days of Arnold Palmer as they are today.

This. Why are they acting like the player has to have a mic on? Don't mic him up if they're worried about his potty mouth.

Even then, how is a delay not an easy fix to this?

The producers of CBS want Tiger to explode. Nantz doesn't. There is probably a divide.

Nantz is just jealous that he didn't get as much young tail as Tiger got. He only got one before his divorce. A lot of these golfers are probably just pissed at Tiger for making their lifestyle something their wives are more likely to pay attention to.
