SIU made the Sweet 16 in 2007 and won the MVC regular season title but not the tourney title.

Bradley made the Sweet 16 in 2006 and didn't win the MVC regular season or tournament titles.

Wichita State mad the Sweet 16 in 2006 and was the same as SIU - won the regular season title but not the tourney title.

SIU did the same thing in 2002 - made the Sweet 16 as the MVC regular season champ but not the tourney champ.

By saying MVC champion they must mean tournament champion not regular season champion.

I was on a treadmill at the Y yesterday afternoon and had on a heart rate monitor. The Mizzou-WVU game was on and they switched to MSU-Maryland for the last minute and when Lucious hit that shot, my heart rate jumped from 138 to 154 in like 2 seconds. I couldn't believe they just went without calling a TO.

Pretty sure both teams were out of timeouts by that point, which made the ending that much better. No NBA ending with 7 timeouts called in the last minute.

Jon Gasaway mentioned that Izzo still had a timeout left.

And was about to call it (watch the video) but pulled back at the last second. Why, I'll never know, but it paid off.

I actually like Raftery better than Gus. I know they perform different roles, but overall I prefer Raftery. One of Gus and Raftery should be doing every game this weekend. They can fly back and forth between the cities.

Gus and Raftery together . . .

+1 to Raftery being awesome. He was on fire this weekend.

That clip reminds me. I absolutely hate the standard generic floor that all sites had to use.

Pretty much, even then are we sure that they are right on those stats? Seems like SIU won the MVC when they went that far.

We won the MVC regular season crown both years, but Creighton beat us in the MVC Final both of those seasons.

It's an interesting stat, but it's one that probably shouldn't be getting as much play as it is right now. Harlan completely screwed it up the first time he mentioned it on Saturday saying that it would have been the first time any MVC team made the Sweet 16 since Bird's team.

I miss when SIU was relevant. Thanks, Chris.

LOL are you serious? I literally had no thoughts about it one way or another.

Didn't see this posted here yet but Lucas is done with a ruptured achilles tendon. Does this make UNI the favorite now?

I have 10/16, 6/8, 3/4, and 2/2. I suppose mine is in good shape compared to a lot of people.

I think UNI would've been close to a favorite had Lucas not been injured. They handled Kansas, and with no Lucas, they have to be the favorite.

edit: Vegas still has MSU as 1.5 point favorites. Purdue is an 8 point dog, and Cornell a 9 point dog.

17-yeard old autistic kid from Chicago has a perfect bracket so far. Purdue fans will definitely want to check out this story.

If this kid is right, I'm going to be missing some work due to hangovers in the near future.

It would be really awesome if he did, but I am not sure I believe it. They said it's from from cbssportsline. Here is the standings from the overall bracket. Of course he could have a private group that this is not a part of.

Agreed.

Big game tonight for the Cats. We beat Xavier once this year by a good margin, but this game isn't at home and Xavier is a much better team now then earlier this year.

CBS sports line has said they do not keep track of private bracket regions because picks can be changed after the fact, so there's no way to confirm if that kid really had a perfect bracket or not.

yeah, i don't believe for a second that anyone has a perfect bracket at this point. washington, cornell and st mary's in the sweet 16, uni beating ku, ohio beating georgetown, etc.... there's just been too many upsets. there are something like 3 million entries on espn and the top score is someone who got 3 opening round games (ND, Georgetown, Clemson) and 1 round of 32 game (Kansas) wrong.

Is Pullen out of traction yet?

Hope not. He didn't factor last time we played Xavier and we won by 15. Granted that was in Manhattan, but still. Don't want to get too much hope, but really looking forward to the game. Good reason for beers on a Thursday night.
