The Illinois High School Basketball Championship was the first tournament to be called 'March Madness'. The term was first used about the Illinois tournament in 1939, decades before it was used about NCAA basketball tournament.

 

seems like something i should have known, oh well.

 

can i officially be considered old because i can remember with acuity tommy hamilton sr. playing in the state finals and now i'm watching his son in the state tourney?

 

I was just telling my wife about that game they played against Rockford Guilford in the state championship game. I'm pretty sure that was 1992 and I was a sophomore.

Anyone else having issues with CBS today. Every other website loads perfectly fine but everything on CBS won't load for me 9/10's of the time. This includes a fantasy league, the home page, the CBB scores page and the game feeds.

Also, stupid fouls on layups that allow the other team and-1 opportunities. If you're going to foul a guy on a layup, hack in so he can't get the ball up. Otherwise, just let him lay it in.
