this season just needs to end.

So I assumed Mizzou lost until I checked the scoreboard from last night. Must be nice to be a lock.

It is until they get matched up against one of the 30 teams from the Big East in the first round.

It appears that Baylor's Perry Jones has been suspended for at least tonight's game against OU.

the rumor is impermissible benefits

Evidently it was his AAU coach making two or three 15 day loans to Jones' mom (I didn't hear an amount) while he was still in HS. He also, evidently, didn't know about it. If that is true, I have no idea either way, how does this square with Newton being let off because he didn't know about the MS State offer?

There's a big difference: Newton was the star of a team making a championship run. Jones is the star of the best bad team in the country, thus no one gives a crap.

Hopefully Drew wasn't involved. I'd hate to see a good coach wind up there.

Found this. Again, I have no idea if this is accurate or not, but it does parallel what I heard talked about this morning.

Edit: Also found this Rivals story, it has a little more info.

Refs just quit on the St. Johns game with 2 seconds left. Rutgers turned the ball over but the St. Johns player traveled and clearly stepped out of bounds with 1.7 seconds left but the refs completely ignored it and the game ended.

Burr and Higgins need to lose their jobs. Seriously.

You could've wrote this response to pretty much any post on the board and it would've been no less true

The three refs involved in yesterday's travesty have voluntarily withdrawn from the rest of the Big East Tournament. Will be interesting to see if there's any carryover to the NCAAs.

Did Pitt turn it over a lot? They were really efficient for a loser

Double the turnovers, half the free throws, and gave up 13 offensive boards.

Haven't followed all the punditry on this, but I'd think that win, unimpressive as it was, wraps up a #1 seed.

What the hell is Self doing with Josh Selby? He hardly ever plays.

he's playing terribly, and allegedly his foot is really slowing him down.

Self sits on his super talented kids though. Or has at Kansas, he kind of seemed to throw them into the fire more at Illinois. But he played Christian Moody over some super talented young guys. And now Morningstar has to be the worst three year starter in KU history.

Seriously, the box score from this game needs to be archived.

Tyrell Reed: 1-8 FG/1-8 3PT

KU: 12-21 FT

What other team could shoot 36 percent from the floor, 20 percent from 3 and 57 percent from the line and still win?

I'm interrupting the discussion of good basketball to say that Chris Lowery will be retained as SIU's basketball coach for another season. New assistants will be brought in, but a once proud mid-major school continues to get more and more irrelevant by the day.

[expletive] me.

it's pretty frustrating, although Selby hasn't shown much on the court for a month or so.

It has affected his recruiting, though, I think.

Venoy Overton was finally charged - providing alcohol to a minor but since Washington's age of consent is 16, he avoided statutory rape charges. He's suspended from any Washington game in the Pac-10 Tournament but will play in the NCAA Tournament if Washington makes it.

I know absolutely nothing about this case, but I don't see how you can claim he "avoided" statutory rape charges. He, in fact, did not commit statutory rape as the age of consent is over sixteen -- as it is in a majority of states.

Hey guys, I "avoided" murder charges yesterday.*

*Because I didn't murder anyone yesterday.

Apologies. It's alleged sexual assault, I misheard the potential charges.

In February, King County prosecutors declined to charge Overton with sexual assault, but the investigation, the whispers and Overton's uncertain future with the team hovered menacingly over the Huskies' season for the past two months.
