It seems you have very high expectations if you go into a season expecting "awe-inspiring."

Yes, because every single word I type deserves to be analyzed and broken down until we realize I really have no clue what I'm talking about at all, that I am not worthy of offering up an opinion, and deep down I've never been a baseball fan my entire 46 year old life. But, it's been fun teasing all of you all this time.

Nevermind, my opinion is whatever TT's opinion is. Surely that one is right, right?

I think the Cubs have some chance to be a solid team and win the division, but there's simply a higher chance, in my opinion, that they stay a middling team right around .500. Watching Silva start games, for instance, is going to be as cringe-inducing as, say, my time watching Kip Wells try to get through 3 innings for STL.

As a buddy of mine says, ya got too many anchors and not enough sails. That said, I still want the Cubbies to get second place; Cards/Cubs rivalry is always the highlight of the regular season for me.

What.

In other words, I no longer feel like defending my opinions in this particular thread. Just make mine whatever TT's opinion is so everyone can move on.

Since TT and I are of a similar opinion, I also think everyone should agree with him. :D

Greatest team in the history of mankind. There, I said it.

I think like most that as long as ARam, Soriano, and Soto bounce back the Cubs will compete. I think for all the other things that would have to go well if 2 of those 3 dont rebound are beyond the realm of possibility.

I've changed my opinion after reading this preview. Now I think they stand of chance of riding Lee all the way and sneaking in the back door to a title.

It's unfortunate which letters Lee's head is blocking in the word "Annual".

You'd think at least one guy at that magazine what have in his job description "DO NOT LET COVER PHOTO MAKE 'ANNUAL' LOOK LIKE 'ANAL.'" Seems pretty basic.

You'd think one guy at the magazine has the job of making thousands of people aware of a magazine that nobody has ever year of before.

It's edited by Al Yellon. Makes sense.

My sentiment worded quite succinctly. Nice.

Andy has a few amusing lines about it over on a website I don't think I should mention here if memory serves me right. Though, I know from lurking for years that there are a good number of us that transverse the Cubs blogosphere regardless of rivalries. To each their own.

Since I'm already posting in this thread I may as well give a prediction. 90-72 with the aid of a mid-season acquisition and a strong second half.

Edit: Ha, apparently I agree with TT. No disrespect, BBB.

None taken. :write:

I believe the Cubs can compete for the division if some things work out - Soto bouncing back, Soriano, etc. but, it's the Cubs and what can go wrong usually does go wrong. Leaving them hovering around .500 finishing 3rd or 4th, typical Cubs.
