Only scattered single tickets remain for the White Sox series and July 24 vs the Cardinals.

Don't forget, they only have a limited number of tickets available with this presale. The rest go on sale like usual on Friday.

While they are saying that, I'm not sure I'd count too heavily on it. It appears the Ricketts are trying to get everything they can from this cash cow. I really doubt they would turn down this chance to make an extra 20% on tickets while claiming they didn't raise prices.

Also, I'm fairly certain they have increased the cap number on season tickets. I moved up 2500 spots and was offered bleacher tickets as a season option. I may be wrong, but I doubt that 2500 people declined their season tickets this offseason. I think they know that by increasing season ticket sales, they sell more early season games easily and they get more on the money up front.

I have a feeling the Friday inventory of tickets will be greatly diminished.

Vance, did you take that offer for bleacher seats? I know someone else that had the option for bleacher, outfield 500 level or infield 500 level. I would have been all over the 500 level infields. I love the bleachers the prices on those were pretty expensive as you know for a season package.

I found someone who wanted them, so the tickets are in my name, but I sold the tickets along with postseason rights to someone else.

So, I guess I'm a season ticket holder, but in name only. I had the option of 400-level outfield or bleachers and the person who wanted to purchase them wanted bleachers, so that's what I took. If nothing else, I have longer to decide if I want them by letting someone else buy them from me.

And yes, the price was steep.

I bought July 24 bleacher tix because I won't be available to try for tickets until Friday late morning and already know that friends will be in town for that game.

In the past you've been able to guesstimate remaining availability by looking at the bleacher 'seat numbers,' which have been consecutively numbered as they are sold. Obviously, they could be selling different sequences to different fan categories this season, but for fun:

Cubs 09 media guide puts bleacher seating at 4960. My bleacher seats topped out at #4228 at 10:48 am. I'll be interested in Friday's war stories and seeing how many people were able to get seats at regular pricing for the White Sox games (which I didn't try for) and the July 24 game.

I also bought a couple of tickets to a Saturday August game, and there seems to be plenty of availability still remaining for that game.

Does anyone know whether if you bought 6 tickets to a game today, you can buy another 6 for the same game on Friday when they go on 'regular' sale?

Do the per-game ticket limits apply to the presale?

I went against what I said I was going to do and got a Cardinal ticket on the Saturday before Memorial day. I figured the $8.10 won't kill me, well probably over $9.00 because of the extra $8.10 I will not have to pay taxes on now. I'm going to games May 26-29th (maybe the 25th). My thinking was there probably be no problem with the other 3 or 4 dates but just wanted peace of mind with the Saturday game. Part of me hates myself for caving into this though.

I think the way the limits read, it applies only to games sold Friday-Sunday, so I don't think what you bought today would count toward those limits. But, if you wanted to be on the safe side, I guess you could call the Cubs ticket office and ask.

If anyone happens to find out a definite answer on this let me know please.

Bah. I was only planning on going to one or two games this year, but I forgot to factor in the World Cup schedule.

Good thing I didn't buy tickets in the presale.

Upper Deck Box and Terrace Box are the same price. Does anyone have an opinion of one over the other?

Upper Deck Box by far. No risk of having your view blocked by people constantly walking in front of you on the walkway and the view is fantastic. You're right on top of the terrace box seats, so it's not like you're further back, either. And it's much more open. No sense of being cramped under the overhang surrounded by thousands of people.

It used to be a real no-brainer prior to a few years ago when UD Box seats were cheaper relative to other seating, but they've really raised the price on those seats recently.

Here are a couple of examples:

Unless you want to feel surrounded by a ton of people due to an electric atmosphere, such as in a playoff situation (which doesn't apply to this conversation for many reasons), there's really no reason to ever pick 200 level seating over the 400 level.

Actually, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure it's 6. The pillars are in row 6 in the 200 level except for in the corners, so terrace box seats guarantee that you won't be obstructed...by the pillars. But if you're in the first few rows, you're going to be pretty annoyed by all of the people walking or standing in front of you on the walkway. Especially cotton candy vendors, which you don't have to deal with in the 400 level.

Thanks. I sat in the UD Box last year, and they were great. I was looking into sitting somewhere else this year, but I think Ill stick with the UD Box. Really, Id like to go for seats closer to the field, but my firends are jobless bums and cant afford them :D

Well, it is pretty ridiculous how high prices for field and club box seats have gotten. $90 for an infield field-level box seat to a platinum game. Roughly $100 after fees.

But yeah, I'd just stick with UD box.

Wrigley's small enough where any seat is fine, as long as it isn't right behind a pole.

the last 5 rows or so in the back of the lower level are pretty horrible. In fact, a lot of the seats that are under the upper deck are bad for vertical sight lines (pretty much any fly ball disappears from view the second it's hit)

I would definitely chose 200 level if it's the first 6 rows over any 400 level seat (unless the 200 were way down the line). The 400 aren't bad but I personally don't like being so much higher than the playing field.

nah. back rows of the terrace under the UD or too high up in the bleachers are both pretty terrible places. And there are a number of seats that aren't right behind the pole that are still obstructed enough by the pole to be really annoying. Jon's right in that the UD used to be an outstanding deal in terms of quality of view for the money. The increase in price in UD seats the last couple years was really annoying.
