The 2010 class has been announced. Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, John Randle, Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson, Dick LeBeau, and Floyd Little. Richard Dent is robbed once again.

I would say the HOF really needs to adjust when it comes to WR's. If Cris Carter and Tim Brown can't get in then only Jerry Rice should be in. Carter should have been a first ballot HOFer IMO and definitely have made it the second time around.

Rickey Jackson is the first Saints player to get in I believe.
He's the first who was known mainly as a Saint (perhaps that's what you meant). Players Doug Atkins, Earl Campbell, and Jim Taylor, coach Hank Stram, and GM Jim Finks are Hall of Famers that spent time with the Saints but were better known with other teams.

Yes, that's what I meant.

What exactly is keeping Cris Carter out? He's easily one of the top WRs of all time and was certainly one of the top (if not the best) WRs during his career.

He's 8th all time in receiving yards, 4th in receiving TDs, 5th in yards per reception, 8th in touchdowns, 3rd in receptions and went to 8 pro bowls. Interestingly, he's also 3rd all time in successful two point conversions (with 5). I always thought he'd be a no-brainer, but I guess not.

HOF has always been bad to WR's but I think voters didn't want to put him in until Rice was in because they are the same era. I think Carter gets in next year. That's I can think of at least.

That was the thought last year as well, but I would've thought they'd be ok with putting the two in together. Leaving Carter out of the HOF because you want Rice in there first is rather weird (though entirely possible).

All it takes is enough people on the list to think that way and it is impossible to get Carter in. Doesn't have to be all of them or even most of them. It could be that some thought that putting Carter and Rice in together makes them seem like equals.

Oh, I fully understand that. I wasn't dismissing it, just trying to figure it out.

Shannon Sharpe is not in either. Revolutionized the TE position. I think he's 2nd in all categories for TEs as he just recently got passed by Tony Gonzalez.

Yeah, Sharpe and Brown were a couple more I didn't think would have to wait to get in.

Yeah, you got Dent, Cris Carter, Tim Brown, and Shannon Sharpe who all need to be in next year. But then you have a class of 1st timers that include Deion, Marshall Faulk, Curtis Martin, and Bettis. Not to mention there will be coaches and owners that will be considered. Only 7 get in, so we might have the same discussion next year,.

Curtis Martin?

? Former Patriot and Jet? 5th all time leading rusher?

I know who he is, didn't realize he was that high up on the charts(ESPN says 4th all-time).

He and Barry Sanders are the only two to have 10 straight 1,000 yard seasons.

I would say Faulk, Bettis and Deion are all in first time. Bettis doesn't deserve first ballot IMO but he is very well liked so he will get in over Martin despite having less yards, total TD's and more fumbles. I think after that Carter and Sharpe get in. That's your five.
