The Washington Nationals have reached agreement on a deal with free-agent second baseman Adam Kennedy, sources confirm. The deal is pending a physical.

Fontenot career OPS: .761

Baker career OPS: .782

 

Kennedy is also 33 while Fontenot is 30 and Baker is 29.

Fontenot: 10.4 UZR/150

Baker: 2.3 UZR/150

 

OPS isn't the best stat, but that's just a quick rundown.

I live in Washington DC. The good news is that this will help $5 walk up tickets stick around for another year. Kennedy has no place near the Cubs roster. I'd much rather have Blanco's glove floating around.

Kennedy isn't bad...if it were 2002. The fact of the matter is last year was a fluke and he isn't getting any better. He was only a league average middle infielder during his (very brief) prime, anyway. I wouldn't want him either.

Okay, I stand corrected. I was looking at last year, and nothing else. Also, I guess it makes sense that he would get a contract in Washington, and not a team that could be more of a contender. Sorry.

 

And, like another poster (Post Count Padder?) said, I would've liked to have had him in say, 2002.
