Oh, and Pomeranz has continued to dominate. Friday night against Mississippi State he went 6.1 innings, 4 hits, 1 run, 11 K's and one walk. 9 of those 11 K's came in a row.

I've seen him listed as high as the 2nd pick overall. Not sure how accurate that is though.

It's not quite a consensus, but Pomeranz can make a strong case for it right now, especially since it seems he'd be willing to sign for slot.

It doesn't seem like too big a reach unlike other Pirate first round picks. He's definitely a top 5 prospect though it seems like Jameson Taillon is firmly entrenches as the #2 prospect everywhere you look.

Pretty much, although Taillon's reportedly looking for record-breaking money and a major league contract. Pomeranz seems to make more sense for the Pirates in terms of signability, although, given that they took Alvarez recently and gave him a dump truck full of money, who knows?

The UT team era is down to 2.17, .83 better than anyone else in the country. I wonder what the record is for an entire season.

Looks like Missouri had a 0.65 ERA (19 ER in 264 IP) in 1964.

Big Ten parity in baseball - every team right now is either 10-8, 9-9, or 8-10.

That's not a sign of how good the teams are compared to how bad they are.

Not sure if it's the right thread, but I don't really want to start a new one. Can anyone with some scouting subscriptions tell me if Mike Hernandez (SP) from Butler is ranked high? I believe he is a sophomore. Thanks.

Sweet! UCLA gets LSU, UC Irvine and Kent State in their regional.

And we get to "group of death": UCLA, LSU, Irvine, Kent. That's ridiculous. Irvine keeps getting these tough draws. LSU deserved better.

some hitter for FIU has a 50 game hit streak
The streak is now up to 56, but on hold until next year (assuming he returns) because FIU was eliminated today.

He's a sophomore, he's not going anywhere.

North Carolina gets in despite not even qualifying for its conference tournament.

Annnd they were just eliminated by Oklahoma.

Yay, UCLA came from behind to beat CSUF for the first time in a few years. Ridiculous game - UCLA took a 9th inning lead on a 2-out HR and then blew it in the bottom of the 9th on a error attempting to catch a Titan stealing.

Anyone else watch the AZ ST/AR game? Great game but the Hogs got fucked on so many calls it was crazy.

If you get a chance to watch a replay, take a peak... worst home plate ump I've ever seen, by a long shot.

Wow, TCU up 3-0 on Texas in the 7th inning of the 3rd and deciding game of the Texas super regional. Texas is the #2 seed in the country.

South Carolina punched their ticket to Omaha by beating Coastal Carolina 10-9 today! Florida and Florida State are also headed to the CWS.

TCU now up on Texas 4-0 with 3 outs to go.

UCLA is going to Omaha for only the third time ever and first time since 1997!!!

We got the CSUF monkey off our back, now it's time to get Florida back for basketball in 2006 and 2007.

With Arkansas down to their last strike, Brett Eibner just hit a home run off Jordan Swagerty to send the ASU-Arkansas game to extras. Swagerty was the Cardinals' 2nd rounder (and Eibner was the Royals' 2nd rounder).
