USA kicked Canada's butt at driving guys deep into the glass, and in some cases into the opponents bench. Canada was clearly the superior team in my eyes, but USA did a great job in both games of staying with them.

The first two power plays for the USA today were pretty brutal. Canada's defense on power plays was amazing. Fun game. Wish the outcome was different.

Now that the euphoria of the tournament is wearing off, I'm nervous that five key Blackhawks players (plus Kopecky) have six or seven extra games on their legs going into the playoffs.

At least our young guys got even more experience playing in high pressure games before the playoffs start in a month.

I'm sure they'll get their time off

yeah, the u.s. did all the things that russia should have done but didn't - play physical, make the simple plays (get the puck deep, short passes, got traffic in front of the net). maybe russia doesn't have the type of players who will do those things, or maybe the coaches didn't try to get them to play the system that could give a super-talented team trouble.

I'm not an expert on Russian hockey, but from what I have heard it's just not their style of play. You would think they'd try a few adjustments though.

Gotta give Canada credit for making fun of themselves for the technical issues at the opening ceremonies. Other than that, this crap is BORING.

but pretty much every other cup contender is in the same boat.

yeah but so do the canucks (both sedins, kesler, luongo, etc) and the sharks (heatley/marleau/thornton/boyle/nabakov/pavelski), and those are really the only 2 teams i'm worried about from the west.

demitra even though he hasn't really played yet.

come to think of it, it was probably good for him, damn. but then again, hossa gets some highly competitive games under his belt this year, too.

i also like the pressure that toews/seabrook/keith were under during these olympics. they HAD to win the gold. i'd think that any pressure they might face in the nhl playoffs won't even compare to the pressure they faced here.

Are these Closing Ceremonies supposed to be celebrating Canada or making fun of it? I'm leaning towards the latter.

Bob Costas just said Nickelback and Avril Lavigne are performing at the closing party, so I assume you're right.

I watched it for a minute and could only keep thinking, "wtf, Canada?"

I liked the "made in canada" montage. mounties, hockey, leaves, beavers, and moose..I think I would have just stuck with Shatner.

Even though I'm saying this as a casual fan at best, hockey is a lot more engrossing without the fighting. That game was so streamlined and thrilling it was ridiculous.

That has nothing to do with not having fighting.

Right. I think because it was the olympics, none of the rough stuff got dirty. But you play games with that type of intensity in the NHL without fighting and someone will get hurt.

I am not a anti fighting guy, but I disagree with this statement.
