Umm:

Q: Is it frustrating to you Pete Carroll, for example, portrayed in one way…

CW: Let me ask you this question: You guys know about things that go on in different places. Was I living with a grad student in Malibu, or was I living with my wife in my house? You could bet that if I were living with a grad student here in South Bend, it would be national news. He’s doing it in Malibu and it’s not national news. What’s the difference? I don’t understand. Why is it okay for one guy to do things like that, but for me, I’m scrutinized when I swear. I’m sorry for swearing; absolve my sins.

did you read any of the rest of the article?

It was vindictive of him to say this but the interviewer basically brought it up. Also, there is a large amount of truth to what he said.

I don't understand all of this media push for a Boise vs. TCU matchup in the Fiesta Bowl. There was basically no one projecting that until the last 24 hours and now it's everywhere. I can't see how they sell as many tickets as a matchup involving a Big Ten team. The teams don't gain nearly as much by beating each other as they would by beating an AQ. Plus much of the national appeal for tv ratings is seeing the little guy beat the big guy.

If I was a fan of either school I would want to play Florida first and then any other BCS conference school next. They winner of a TCU/Boise St game will not get any great respect for their accomplishment

Agreed. There's no payoff for the teams, plus probably less money involved. Supposedly they think it could be a huge tv ratings game but I don't see it.

If Iowa gets selected over PSU, you'll have the top 10 teams in the BCS playing in the BCS bowls. That has to be a first doesn't it?

National Championship- 1. Alabama vs. 2. Texas

Sugar Bowl- 3. Cincy vs. 6. Florida

Fiesta Bowl- 5. Boise State vs. 9. Iowa

Orange Bowl- 4. TCU vs. 10. Georgia Tech

Rose Bowl- 7. Oregon vs. 8 Ohio State.

I really hope there's not a TCU-Boise State bowl rematch. I'd much rather see Florida-TCU and Cincy-Boise State. Let Iowa play Georgia Tech, and of course there's the two set matchups of Alabama-Texas and Oregon-Ohio State.

Ah, selection sunday. When I get to purchase airfare that would have cost me $200 less just 3 days ago.

I've read projections of Boise St. vs. Iowa and TCU vs. Ga Tech. Those games both suck

Who do you want? It's 4 top 10 teams. Unless Penn State gets selected this should be the best group of BCS teams they've ever had.

I think TCU vs. Georgia Tech is a really interesting matchup.

This is exactly what I want. I would not be upset if TCU jumped Texas today, though I know its not going to happen. Texas was lucky as hell last night, and I am glad McCoy's legacy won't be remembered on that one play. I really want to see Florida and TCU play.

I am fully on board for the Suh for Heisman bandwagon now. I knew he was great, but didn't realize he could dominate a line the way he did the entire game last night.

no kidding... if those games all suck then you're pretty much just looking forward to like 2 bowl games.

personally i'd prefer tcu and boise st to play bcs conference teams than to play each other. apparently the fiesta bowl likes the idea of the tcu-boise st matchup, but to me it just seems like you're having the kids from the mid-major conference go play in the corner rather than possibly making a team like florida or iowa/psu or ga tech look bad.

The teams are fine, I just think there are better match ups. TCU vs. Cincy would be fun.

All I'm asking is that since it's set up so well for 1 (Alabama) v 2 (Texas), 3 (TCU) v 4 (Cincinnati), 5 (Florida) v 6 (Boise State), 7 (Oregon) v 8 (Ohio State), and 9 (Iowa) v 10 (Georgia Tech), it'd be nice if the bowls actually played out that way for once.

I believe the selection order for at large selections is Sugar, Fiesta, Orange, Fiesta, Sugar. The Sugar is basically a lock to take Florida. I can't imagine why the Fiesta would pass up Iowa/PSU with the 2nd pick to set up a mid-major battle. If they do that, the Orange picks out of TCU, Cincy, and the last at large (Boise/VT/BYU). They can't pick VT because they already have GT from the ACC and taking BYU would be hilarious, so they take whoever will travel better out of Boise, TCU, and Cincy. I can see the last three going in any order, but my guess to how this plays out is:

MNC: Alabama v Texas

Rose: Oregon v OSU

Sugar: Florida v Cincy

Fiesta: Iowa v TCU

Orange: GT v Boise

I see where you're coming from but it won't happen. Cincy is going to be the last pick. Consensus is that they'll travel the least of all these teams. Fiesta will either take Iowa or TCU first.

I am getting a little worried about the Fiesta actually wanting this TCU/Boise matchup (still don't know why) and then the Orange picking PSU.

Do they think TCU/Boise is good for TV or something? They do know this game happened last year right? That game seems terrible for them. I would imagine a "David v Goliath" matchup would draw more people, even if David might be the favorite this time.

Rumor has it that we're going to jump Wisconsin for the Outback.

I do kind of feel bad for the Champs Sports Bowl if true, though. I don't think Wisconsin is going to travel as well in another repeat trip to Orlando.

Penn State paper and their twitter now saying sources are telling them they're headed to the Cap One and Iowa headed to Fiesta. Jerry Palm says Iowa to the Fiesta is a done deal.

Assuming Bama-Texas is the National Title game, I want

Florida-TCU

GT or Cincy against Boise

GT or Cincy against Iowa/Penn St

I think a Florida-Boise game is more likely to be a blowout as is Florida-Cincy and would rather see Boise face either Cincy or GT for a potential shootout - first to 50 wins.

But I really don't want a TCU-Boise game. We saw that last year and I want to see the non-BCS teams match up with BCS teams. Non-BCS teams are forced to play others like them all year long so this is the time to force the big boys to play them.
