I curious to see how the galleries react to Tiger when he does return to the tour. Every smartass is going to yell something at him relating to this fiasco. Tiger and his caddy are so thin skinned when it comes to cameras, noise, etc. that I can't see it going well.

Oh I'm sure it'll be pretty brutal. Maybe not at Augusta but anywhere else he decides to play (especially Ryder Cups and majors at public courses) he'll get a lot of heckling.

I forgot where I read this but someone was mentioning it's fortunate that Tiger wasn't playing at Bethpage this coming US Open. That would've been great.

Woods has announced he is taking an "indefinite break from golf"

A single guy taking time off work is like a little kid in a candy store. So many girls, so little time.

Tiger is back no later than the Masters. His whole life is golf. He is determined to break Nicklaus' major streak because he is so competitive. He is taking a leave of absence to either honestly try to recover and get his life back together or deflect media attention and seem contrite.

His temper sucks, and at the rate the negative publicity is mounting on him he will be a detriment to the PGA for the 1st couple of months. I would not be surprised if the PGA told him to take a leave before he actually did. The last thing they need is the entire focus of a tournament being built around hating Tiger Woods. He is too important for them. The PR machine is going to have to have been rolling for a couple of months before he comes back.

Tiger is golf. I guarentee you that the PGA is weeping over this statement from Tiger. Let's not act like the PGA is some bastion of morality here: Tiger playing is going to draw monster coverage and ratings and the PGA will make a boatload. They want him playing ASAP.

I don't think Tiger cares much about golf right now. I can't believe people as smart as Tiger, Clinton, Spitzer, etc. would do these things and expect not to get caught.

I hope he can repair his marriage, for better or worse his off the course reputation is shot. All he has left is his family. I don't feel sorry for him, but I feel bad for him.

Why are people surprised when married celebrities end up shacking up with "regular" mistresses? It's not like Tiger can try and bone famous women. He would have been busted a long time ago if that was his M.O..

More than anything, I'm surprised that celebs even attempt marriage. You're rarely home, and everywhere you go you'll have women throwing themselves at you. At some point, it's going to give. I'm not condoning the behavior, I'm just calling it futile to try and maintain a monogamous relationship at a young age and in those circumstances. I wouldn't even try.

Not everyone is a strong as A.C. Green.

And of course you're going to shack up with "regular" people, unless you want everyone to find out.

Say what you will about Jeter as a player, the guy knew how to play this part of his life like a genius.

Some people are looking for true love and realize that hooking up loses its luster over time. Some people try to find true love and also hook up. Tiger preferred the latter. As good as the sex probably was with beautiful women, I think pretty much every guy out there knows that it can get depressing knowing that women only want you for reasons other than love.

Amen! He's the blueprint that others sports players should follow.

This isn't about "finding love", it's about finding a way to satisfy your biological imperitve when you only see your wife every once in a while. And he doesn't care why they are sleeping with him, just that they continue to be accessible. And they don't care that he doesn't care, they just care that they are hooking up with Tiger Woods.

I don't cheat on my wife because I see her all the time. But when you are in a situation like Tiger, there are a lot of things going on:

1.You're rarely home, meaning you don't get it on with your wife very much.

2.You're a relatively young male, which means you really need to be getting it on.

3.You're a high profile celeb, so you don't need to seek hookups, they seek you out. Relentlessly.

Unless you are highly unusual, this is a recipe for disaster.

To be clear, I AM NOT condoning adultery. I am saying people like Tiger Woods should have a little foresight, and not put themselves in untenable situations. There is pressure from without and within to find some measure of stability, but you have to understand when something isn't going to work, and not be so selfish as to try and have your cake and eat it too. Especially when this comes at the emotional expense of someone else (your wife).

And Mojo is right, Derek Jeter is the perfect example of how to handle this lifestyle.

You say Tiger should have foresight and not put himself in tempting situations, but you also say that he has no choice because women constantly sought him out. But he also, reportedly, met with casino owners who gave him private suites with ready access to women. Tiger sought these girls out because he wanted what he thought was the best of both worlds: married life and playboy life.
