#-o please let this deal benefit us in some way other then just Carlos Silva services. A talented young player, or 8-10m to use on another player would be nice. We have to be getting something else right? Otherwise why would Hendry do this deal right now, unless the Mariners gave in more then they were willing to in the past? I can't believe he would do this one over Burrell unless we were getting more in return then Silva and his crap contract. Edited by cubsfan26

Wow if Hendry doesn't get fired i'm not sure what to think. This trade makes no sense because it doesn't save the cubs any money and to top it off it makes the team worse because silva isn't anywhere close to good enough to compete for the 5th spot on the rotation.

Man, I knew I was going to be pissed when we traded Bradley, but I had no idea how pissed I'd actually be. I really thought there was no way Hendry would move him for someone as completely worthless as Silva, but obviously I was wrong. This clown has got to go.

I'm going to wait to see the particulars (money/possible inclusion of prospects) before assigning this trade a position on the "Awful trade"<------>"Disastrous trade" continuum of transactions.

A trade never gets a GM fired, but you are right this trade makes no sense for Bradley/Silva straight up. Even with Bradley having almost no value. He has to have more then Silva at this point. Silva probably had one of the worse contracts in baseball right now. So this deal doesn't make sense unless were getting money or prospects in return.

It's okay guys, Rich Harden gets hurt a lot. This is a lateral move in the rotation at worst. And since Silva is probably nice (since he's fat) we're going to have great chemistry.

There is nothing to wait for. He just traded a decent player for the worst player in the league. You just don't do that, even if it saves you a few dollars.

Hendry loves bad contracts. Might as well add another one to the list.

And dont forget Aaron Miles is gone, so we automattically have a better team.

How did Jim Hendry manage to undo all of his disaterous 2008 offseason moves and still make the team significantly worse?

It doesn't save anything. I doubt the Ms are throwing in any money.

I guess Hendry sure showed Milton Bradley who is boss. Drinks for everyone! Let the party begin! Ding dong, the witch is dead, the witch is dead.

The meatball cub fans will love this move simply because Bradley is out of town. Silva is a terrible return for Milton.

What does it mean to call someone a meatball anyway?

Definitely i'm pretty sure Silvy will rip Hendry on his show for this but if you listed ton the Afternoon Saloon on ESPN 1000, Harry will praise him for it and then you'll have bruce levine talk about how Silva is such a decent pitcher.
