From MLBTR via NY Daily News...

According to Bill Madden of The NY Daily News, the Royals have agreed to send the versatile Mark Teahen to the White Sox in exchange for Chris Getz and Josh Fields. Madden says Teahen is expected to replace free agent-to-be Jermaine Dye in rightfield.

Wow this is a bad trade for the Sox in my opinion. I'm actually pretty happy they picked Teahen up because i'm sick of hearing how Hendry wants Teahen. I think Teahen is way overrated, feel sorry for sox fans because i feel getz should've stayed with the sox and the sox should've gone out and signed someone to play right field instead of trading away a decent young player for a utility man.

Chris Getz is a bad baseball player.

Why because he's gone now and because you have Teahen now? If Teahen is replacing Dye, then the sox are counting on him to be one of their power bats which is not something smart. Especially when you have an overpaid Rios in Center.

Regardless of the talent that the Sox gave up in the deal, if Teahen is their replacement for Dye, that's going to be a very light-hitting outfield, especially if (when) Quentin goes down.

I like the trade for the White Sox. When you factor in that Fields was never going to do anything for the White Sox because Ozzie hates him, its like Teahen for Getz straight up. Good move for the Sox.

Anyone else think they let Teahen try 2nd base and get a heavier hitting RF? Trading Fields makes me think Beckham will play 3B and Ramirez will remain at SS.

Wouldn't it make more sense to put Beckham at SS and go Teahen-Beckham-Ramirez across the diamond?

I don't really know how Beckham grades out as a SS, but I thought the thought was he'd be able to handle it at the major league level.

Who knows? It's not an awful deal seeing as how Getz and Fields are worthless. You're replacing a right handed bat in the outfield with a lefty, but on the other hand Teahan doesn't have the power or range for an outfield spot, and his hitting over the last couple of years hasn't been all that great. Maybe he just needs a change of scenery out of KC.

Yeah, I'm not a white sox fan.

Hopefully he misses it again...and how exactly does one join a forum over a year ago, post over 200 times, and believe that SSR is a WS fan?

I wouldn't say Getz is worthless. He's still young enough that he could turn into an average or slightly above average 2B. I don't like Teahen as an everyday RF but as a "super-sub" he could be pretty close to what Derosa was to the Cubs for two years. Seems like a pretty fair trade.

Teahens a good player, but Im surprised that the Sox are giving up Getz. He was starting to really come inot his own. I guess the plan is for Teahen to play 3rd with Beckhem and Ramirez at SS and 2B

Plus you have to figure Dayan Viciedo will fit in there somewhere at some point.

Last I heard Viciedo can't fit into much of anything.

Truth, that guy is fatter than the fattest person to ever fat.

The ChiSox better play Teahen at third, where he's a league average bat and slightly below with the glove. Slide Beckham to the middle infield at either 2nd or short where his bat is a huge asset, hope (pray?) Ramirez rebounds, and you probably have a solid infield next year.

Teahen has no business being in the outfield barring injury. Dude has a career .419 slugging percentage, which won't play in right.

Now he'll be playing "Ozzie Ball!"

What's funny about this is, the Chicago media outlets and the White Sox are reporting it.

However, the Royals have yet to comfirm this. And if you go to the www.kcroyals.com site, it simply says on their news link

"KC's Teahen to White Sox for Getz, Fields?"

So, this trade hasn't "officially" happened yet.
