ND had 5 trips to the red zone or near it that resulted in zero points. 2 missed field goals, a pick that somehow bounced off Floyd's back and STRAIGHT UP INTO THE AIR, a turnover on downs, and a fumble.

If I felt like defending Charlie, I'd yap about the bad breaks, the overturning a non-reviewable play on the first drive, the Jimmy getting hurt yet again (ND has had 3 different plays this year on which they should have scored a TD but someone got injured at the 1-yard line or in the end zone to take it away), the Immaculate Interception, or whatever else.

But Charlie Weis didn't have this team ready to play at all today. It was glaringly obvious. ND will lose to at least one of Pitt or Stanford and probably both, and then Weis will be fired. And for the first time in his tenure, I'm in favor of that. Someone get Brian Kelly on line 2. And for the love of God, fire Tenuta. How many times can Notre Dame give up big gains on plays everyone knows are coming (like the FB run up the middle from their own 1 that went for 30 some yards)?

I can't even begin to get mad at Clausen, Floyd or Tate, all of whom played very well.

it'd be pretty embarrassing (for the BCS) if oregon and usc made the bcs and the team that beat oregon (who stomped usc) missed out on it without losing a game.

Oregon's only going to the BCS if they win the Pac 10.

Oregon would have to lose twice for USC to win the Pac-10 right now

Jahvid Best is being stretchered off the field with a neck injury.

The report is that he just has a concussion and has full movement. I just caught the replays 10 minutes after it happened, but that's the scariest concussion I've ever seen.

1. Apologies to the Iowa fans. I was hoping Iowa was going to be able to run the table to a chance of a NC game, since the wife's family is from Iowa. Unfortunately, that looks like it's not going to happen.

2. Got back from Manhattan. Was a great crowd. Pretty much a missed oppiturnites game for both teams, if you will. Didn't help KU/Reesing by committing 3 turnovers (1 INT and 2 fumbles) and 10 points were from those 3 turnovers (Could had been 13, but the FG was missed). Lots of missed field goals. Shoddy playcalling.

3. What the hell happened to Missouri? Baylor?!? Oh my goodness. I am now wondering if Pinkel is now going to be on the hotseat....

What are you talking about? Iowa's AD announced that they were not going to play the last few games. They finished the season 9-0.

Wow, UConn just missed a two point conversion to tie Cincy. Still 5 minutes left. Cincy has 657 yards of offense. ESPN has decided this is a regional blackout game for me, so I can't see it.

Houston and Tulsa is 45-43 with a two-point conversion for Houston coming.

EDIT: The didn't get the two-point but recovered the onside kick and their kicker nailed a 51-yard field goal with no time left to win it.

Keenum finished 40-60, 522, 3 TD, 0 INT and there were 1,229 yards of offense.

Flames has to be stoked right now. Southern Illinois is up 27-3 on South Dakota State at halftime. Assuming they don't slip up, they'll get a seed and at least two home games in the FCS playoffs.

Awesome performance on the road today. Plus Richmond just lost to Villanova, so we should be #2 at the worst. We're going to be very close to getting three home games as long as we don't slip up against Missouri St and SEMO.

A case could be made that you guys could be the No. 1 team overall. Montana is the only undefeated team left and they needed a last second field goal just to beat Idaho State 12-10 today. Oh, and Idaho State is 0-10 this year and 1-21 over the last two years. Montana also struggled with UCD, Cal Poly and Northern Arizona. Of course, they're 9-0 and if they don't lose, they'll probably be the No. 1 seed.

The only other team that I think would challenge Southern Illinois for the top spot is Villanova. They're ranked No. 4 coming in and just beat the No. 1 team in the nation and are the most likely of the four 8-1 CAA teams to win out. William and Mary plays both New Hampshire and Richmond (all three are 8-1) the next two weeks.

I'm guessing it will be Montana, SIU, Villanova and whichever of the other three CAA teams goes 10-1. No. 7 Appalachian State and No. 6 Elon play next week and the winner of that could get one, especially App State because of their recent history.

Just make sure you put us ahead of Montana in the poll. I saw the Montana game on a stream and it took them a game winning FG as time expired to defeat a team that was 0-8. That's not the #1 team in the subdivision.

We're undefeated against FCS teams with road W's at UNI and a blowout W at SDSU. That should be good enough for the top spot, I would think. As long as we get a top two seed though, I'll be fine with it.

Had Montana behind you last week and I'll be keeping them there. My top five for next week is probably going to be Villanova, SIU, William & Mary, Richmond and Montana.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the polls this week. Richmond has been the clear No. 1 team ever since App St. lost their opening game. Now, Montana is the only unbeaten and is ranked No. 2 but they just struggled against an 0-10 team. Meanwhile there are one-loss SIU (just beat a top-10 team on the road), Villanova (just beat the No. 1 team on the road) and even William and Mary right there.

I suspect Montana will get the top spot because a bunch of idiots will look and see that they were No. 2 and they're the only unbeaten left. However, there are others who will look and see that Montana struggled against a horrible team while SIU and Nova just got great road wins and will give the one-loss teams the first place votes.

I could definitely see Montana losing on the road to Montana St. after today's game, so I shouldn't be that worried about them. Granted I only saw the final quarter, but Idaho St. definitely didn't look like a winless team and Montana didn't look like an undefeated team.

Five of Montana's nine wins could easily have been losses.

UCD dominated everything but couldn't punch the ball in and lost by 7. Cal Poly dominated Montana for a half before losing by 12. Montana needed a touchdown with 1:18 left to beat Eastern Washington and needed OT to beat Northern Arizona. Then there's today.

They're kind of like Iowa was this year before today, except with a much more storied history. They've just found a way to win week in and week out.

But they also get the benefit of the doubt with the pollsters because they've had a ridiculous run of 16 (or something like that) straight playoff appearances and a couple national titles.

omg, here is a great quality vid of the blown "review" from the LSU-Bamer game.

I love when after a review they still get it wrong.

I'm TRULY bothered this season by the SEC officials going in favor of Bama and Fla with all these blown reviews and mystery flags every single week. Lots of people have been talking about conspiracies and all this other stuff and I brushed it off, but this is really starting to smell.

Yeah, that was horrid. That's an interception in the NFL.

Correct me if I am wrong, but did't LSU get a "favorable" call against GA that turned that game around? I agree the non-interception call was blown, and I do agreed the SEC refs have been notoriously bad this year, but to think the Bama and Florida are the only teams that get "favorable" calls is beyond ridiculous. Not to mention there were plenty of holding calls, and blatant push in the back that should have been called against LSU that wasn't called. Not to mention Julio Jones ws pretty much mugged in the end zone in the game against Tennessee near the end of the half that wasn't called. And in the Bama/LSU game Patrick Peterson was basically doing a clinic on pass inference on Jones ALL NIGHT LONG and few, if any, were called. It's the high profile calls that are being highlighted, but let's face facts, Bama has been screwed on some several plays, but the difference between a Bama team and say a Tennessee or LSU team this year is that Bama can play through a bad call and not let it affect them. Bottomline: this perception that Florida and Bama (I can't speak for Florida, only Bama) gets alot of "Favorable" calls is simply that.....a perception. Reality is refs are just doing a bad job this year. So if anybody wants to believe in the "SEC wants Bama/Florida in the SEC Championship game" conspiracy theory, fine, but anybody to believe that is to believe in fiction.

I don't recall Peterson "mugging" Jones. He looked ineffective when Peterson was on the field because McElroy is terrible. Peterson is probably the best cover corner in the country.

That being said, every BCS conference has a vested interest in getting a 2nd team in a BCS game and that needs to be corrected by having independent officials.

I'm rewatch the game, and I counted at least 3 pass inference calls that should have been made against Peterson.

McElroy played a pretty good game and if he plays like this for the rest of the year, then I have no concerns about the QB position. McElroy isn't terrible, but he isn't great either. I think of McElroy as a Kyle Orton type QB. And Bama tends to win games with those kind of QBs. (ie Jay Barker, John Parker Wilson) Besides I am very excited about the future of the QB position at Bama.

Definitely. Instead of Pac-10 refs and SEC refs and so on, they need to just have NCAA refs.

Um, there was also a ton of holding going on by Bama that should have been called and wasn't. And when was PP conducting a PI clinic? There are penalties and/or missed calls on every play, but if you don't see how bad that non-INT was then I don't know what to say. That said LSU should never have been in a position to rely on that INT to make a comeback. LSU was its own worst enemy.
