I'll give credit to them, they keep winning games. But if they somehow make the title game, they're going to get lit up.

I doubt they'd get lit up. Bama's offense isn't all that good and Florida is obviously not what they were in the past few years.

i don't get why everyone assumes florida/alabama would trounce iowa in a hypothetical nat'l championship game. people act like those two teams are in a class by themselves and i don't see it.

What exactly shows you that Iowa is such a good team and would be able to hang with Florida or Alabama?

I know it couldn't have been that 17-16 victory over Northern Iowa or that 24-21 victory over Arkansas State, both of which came at home. Neither Florida nor Alabama struggled against teams as weak as those two are.

and those are about the only two games iowa has struggled in. and since those games iowa has beaten wisc, penn state and michigan state on the road. alabama won on a blocked last second fg at home to a shitty tennessee team and its coach who pissed away the last 50 seconds of the game life a buffoon. sorry, not really blown away by that.

i'm not saying iowa would beat either of those teams, or that iowa is anything great, but to pretend that florida and alabama are in a class of their own is ridiculous.

And what makes you think Iowa can compete with those teams? Florida and Alabama don't have great offenses but the mighty Hawkeyes have struggled to win against UNI, Ark St, Michigan, and MSU.

and the mighty tide have struggled with south carolina and tennessee. and the mighty gators have struggled against arkansas and mississippi state.

no one on the east coast stays up to watch their games, and they dont have fans, so everyone just takes pete carrol's word for it

I don't know much about the Hawkeyes. How many players do they have that would start for Florida or Alabama? I'm guessing it's less than 5 for both units.

i don't know, but iowa beat south carolina by a million last year in a bowl game and bama was pushed by south carolina last week. obviously that was last year, but it's time to stop imagining that bama and florida are leaps and bounds better than the rest of the country.

definitely none of those white WR's they have and they've got a ton it seems.

Fair point.

I'm cool with whatever as long as Iowa is ranked behind Boise St. and Cincy in the BCS.

So today's game was a walk in the park? Same goes for that three-point win over Michigan.

South Carolina (from your other post) and Tennessee are both a hell of a lot better than Arkansas State and both are better than UNI.

Doubt it. Defense wins championships. Happens all the time. We have to beat OSU before we can even think about the title game though.

LSU won the the national championship in 2007 after losing to an unranked Arkansas team in the last game of the regular season.

In 2006 UCLA beat USC in the final game of the regular season so I don't see how that applies to your theory. I guess USC stayed in the hunt after losing to Stanford but if they hadn't lost to Oregon that year they would've been the only other 1 loss team besides Ohio State among BCS teams. In 2008 Oregon State finished 18th in the country and had 9 wins.

So basically your theory is garbage.

I personally don't think Alabama and Florida are leaps and bounds better than the rest of the country.

I just don't think that Iowa is nearly at the level of Alabama or Florida.

in what bizarro world is the Battle Hymn of the Republic a racist song? The drunken fratrats ruined it by adding their ignorant slogan at the end of it.

How's that not a penalty on USC? Sheesh.

Lets pretend these 4 teams go undefeated, where do you rank them:

Boise State

TCU

Iowa

Cincinnati

I'd go...

Iowa

TCU

Cincinnati

Boise State

It's really close for me between Boise State and Cincy. Cincy will probably end up playing more ranked teams, but Boise State's win over Oregon is substantially better than any victory Cincinnati would have this season.

I didn't say that USC played for the NC every time they lost to an unranked team, but they stay in the team picture for contenders all the way to the end.
