So do you think the writers actually looked at 7 weeks of FB and came to the conclusion that Alabama's body of work is the most impressive and voted them number 1, or do you think it is just a knee jerk reaction to Florida's close victory or Arkansas yesterday?

The latter, but Bama has been better than Florida this year and it's really not that close to this point.

I agree, I thought for several weeks that Alabama should be ranked #1. Maybe the close win yesterday by Florida made some writers actually look at both teams bodies of work and come to the logical conclusion that Alabama should clearly be ranked #1 at this point.

I'd say it's probably a bit of both. I have a vote in TSN's FCS poll and this week dropped Montana two spots from No. 2 to No. 4 because they've struggled against lower ranked teams multiple times while a couple other teams (Southern Illinois and Villanova) both picked up very impressive road wins yesterday.

I'm sure some of the 29 voters who switched from Florida to Alabama did so as a knee-jerk reaction but others probably did it as a body of work thing.

Where'd you put UCA? :D

Hopefully more writers follow your lead.

Have them at No. 12 this week. I dropped them a couple spots because of the home loss to Stephen F. Austin but it was a close game and I think SFA is a pretty good team so it's not a bad loss by any means.

I'm pretty happy to see Iowa at 7 in the AP and am pretty anxious to see the BCS standings. My level of excitement is reaching 2007 Packers or 2008 Cubs level. I'm not sure if that's a good thing because I'm setting myself up for a let down.

FWIW, I saw a projection that had them 6 in the BCS.

That's what they are at. Behind Boise and Cincy, who I think they'll jump if they keep winning. If they win out they need help to jump one of the big three.

Fox just had them on their post game show. I can't find them on line yet but the top five was

1. Florida

2. Alabama

3. Texas

4. Boise st.

5. Cincy

The latter, but Bama has been better than Florida this year and it's really not that close to this point.

Can you really discard the game last season between the two? Is Florida really that much worse? I don't think so.

Iowa would get stomped vs the 7th, 9th, and 10th teams in the BCS. They are undefeated but they are probably the worst undefeated team in a major conference, and that major conference is horrible.

I sure can, because the rankings are ostensibly based on the performance of the two teams during the 2009 season, and Alabama's performance has been much better.

Oh no, bitter football face.

Is it true that Illinois is 15-45 in their last 60 Big Ten games? Damn all that talent that the Zooker has brought in...

It's okay Keener. You've shown that you have no capability for being rational when it comes to sports. Especially with teams in the same conference as your own.

You seriously think they would get stomped by LSU and Miami? You also think Iowa is worse than Cincinnati? It's funny how those damn biased computer rankings don't seem to think so.

They're a legit top 10 team. Whether they're top 5 depends on if the offense can progress and click together finally. The problem with your rants is, there aren't many, if any complete football teams this year. You can't make those statements about how they would get killed because no one is proving to be that great overall.

I think Iowa beats LSU and Miami. And to be fair, they probably beat the 5th and 4th teams in the BCS, so it evens out. They are ranked the worst undefeated team in a major conference.

Better? Perhaps. Much better? No. All the computers have the two teams split for the most part, both the bcs ones and the non bcs ones. if anything they're pretty much equal this year. then you give the benefit of the doubt to florida since they beat alabama last season. if alabama and florida were to play next week, who do you think wins? i dont think alabama can score on florida's defense and tim tebow would be able to make enough plays to pull it out.

DO NOT bring logic and reason into a discussion with Keener about a conference rival.

Nice to see the Illini brought up for some reason, and Im not sure why? The football team sucks, its not hard to admit.

As for being rational, look in the mirror. You cant take any kind of criticism against your team. Your teams have no flaws

I do think they would get beat by LSU and Miami. They have struggled against the likes of the mighty Northern Iowa, in Iowa City. They struggled with the powerhouse Arkansas State, in Iowa City, and barely beat Michigan in once again, Iowa City. They beat a bad Wisconsin team, unconvincingly. They have wins over an average Penn State team, a below average Iowa State team, and a not very good Arizona team.

Please tell me what in their resume shows them as a legit top 10 team.

My teams have no flaws? See my post that you quoted where I listed some of the flaws.

Wisconsin is a bad team now? They beat them by 10 on the road. Penn State is average? Arizona is not very good? Do you realize how clueless you are?

Not very good Arizona is ranked 14th in Sagarin. Their only loss besides Iowa came off a fluke play where a ball bounced off their WR's foot for a pick-6 at Washington. They beat a decent CMU team, won at Oregon State and beat Stanford.

Average PSU is 21st in Sagarin and their only loss is to Iowa at home and has been consistently convincing against average to bad teams. Were a Rose Bowl team last year with a lot of returners.

Bad Wisconsin is ranked 32nd in Sagarin has a couple decent wins and completely controlled their game at OSU but had 3 returns for TD's.

Michigan is 34th in Sagarin

Iowa State had a blocked extra point that would have taken KSU to overtime and was inches from a game-winning touchdown at Kansas

Iowa's bad schedule is ranked 20th in the country. Seriously, you're embarrasing yourself.

LOL

I said "dolt" because you claimed I never admitted flaws but the post you quoted included flaws that I listed. Then you come back with that?

It was a convenient way for you to be able to ignore all of the facts I posted though. You hate Iowa, that's cool. Just don't be irrational about it when you're talking about what they deserve.
