hmm...who to keep between wright, rollins and hamels? if anybody is interested in any of those guys, let me know.

if i would have won the championship this year, i would have to think i would have been the first to win the league without a single top 30 SP. that's pretty odd.

I was browsing teams season stats about a month ago, and I noticed that, at that time, Randy Wells was your top scoring pitcher. I don't know if it finished up that way, but that's a rather interesting stat.

Is there some reason Pablo Sandoval lost his 3B eligibility on CBS? I mean, he played 120 games there.

I only ask because at 3B, he's probably top 5 projected, but at 1B, he's borderline top 10.

You better trade him back to me.

Heh, I'm not sure if there's anyone in the league looking to add keeper points right now. So far, it's looking like the draft is going to have a few extra really good players in it. :)

Each year we think that's going to happen, but each year the talent pool really thins out after the top half of the first round. I might have room for 2 stud players, and if I trade for them, the guys I dump back into the pool aren't nearly as good as the guys I might trade for.

For example, if Tim wanted to trade me Albert Pujols, I'd be dumping James Shields and/or Torii Hunter back into the pool. There are enough teams who can either improve on their own keeper list or have plenty of points towards the cap to take on keepers that will inevitably send what were formerly keepers back to the draft.

At least that's the way it seems to me. In other words, my 5th pick in the draft won't be going anywhere. After that one, I'd trade away any other pick if it had the potential of improving my team.

A lot of Rotisserie players go with a similar approach. Spend big on the lineup and fill out their pitching staffs with lower end pitchers who throw a lot of innings.

My roster is now legal.

Lind--566.5

Cabrera--554.2

Young--429.5

Schierholtz--Exempt

Marmol--242.5

Volquez--101 (getting a head start on my DL)

Smoltz--79

Stauffer--Exempt

Norris--Exempt

Davis--Exempt

Total points--1972.7

More pitchers and fewer position players than I'd like, but all of my position players had over 330 points and all of my exempt players (except for Schierholtz) are pitchers.

I don't think anyone but Chuck had points available to take on this offseason. Heck, I've got Kemp, Carp, Verlander, Beckett, Billingsley, Phillips all available, any of whom are likely first round picks if they're in the draft.

Yeah, I don't think anyone is going to be taking on points at this stage. Now I have to decide which OF to keep and which #1 SP to keep (or gamble on a lot of young pitchers + one coming off injury and just keep all the OFs).

I may be keeping all my points on the hitting side and putting four staff aces into the draft.

Screw it. Draft pool just got a lot stronger.

Here's the team:

C Martin (322)

1B Pujols (717)

2B Phillips (454)

3B Rodriguez (467)

SS Cabrera (exempt)

OF Hamilton (exempt)

OF Upton (exempt)

OF

U

SP

SP

SP

SP Cueto (exempt)

SP Buchholz (exempt)

SP

SP Paulino (exempt)

That adds up to 1961 points. And, in case anyone is wondering, I plan on drafting pitching early and often.

I just dropped the #1, #2, #3 & #4 rated starting pitchers (currently available for draft) based on the projections. I also dropped the #2 and #4 hitters. And the #1 and #6 relief pitchers.

How on earth was I not better last year?

The 2000 point limit really makes it more challenging, but the upside is a lot of talent available in the draft. I think post-season trades may become virtually extinct because just about all of us are trying to shed points rather than add.

Well, I hope you're right, because I don't want to be the only one dropping quality talent! I know most people haven't gotten to legal rosters yet, but the draft pool is mainly my guys at this point. :(

I've made Victorino, Ryan Zimmerman, and Franklin Gutierrez, among others, available. Maybe not superstar talent, but not too shabby.
