Brett Jackson leads off with a triple and is subsequently singled home by Flaherty.

Peoria is on fire right now wow. Wish our big league club could take some notes.

iowa lost its first game 6-0. samardzija sucked - 4 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 2 HR. iowa leads the second game 2-1; hoffpauir has doubled and scored a run.

tennessee won 3-2; they'll be tied for first in their division after west tennessee finishes losing. papelbon pitched well (6.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K, 9 GO/7 FO). castro singled twice in 5 AB, thomas doubled and walked, colvin was 1-3.

daytona blew out brevard county 11-2. vitters went 1-4 with (believe it or not) a walk, guyer singled 3 times in 5 AB. dolis had 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 10 GO/5 FO.

peoria had LOB-itis and lost 4-1 despite 11 hits. jackson tripled in his 2 ABs but was PH for in the 5th inning (injury?), flaherty was 2-5 with a double, burke 2-3 with a walk. bristow: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K. cedar rapids lost so peoria's magic number is down to 5.

Jackson, the Chiefs first round draft pick this June, ran into LeMahieu at full speed in the fourth inning as LeMahieu was camped out under a pop-up in shallow center....Jackson remained down for a couple of minutes and initially staying in the game for another inning and a half before Macias pinch-hit for him in the fifth, LeMahieu also hit the ground but held on for the first out of the inning...

sucks tthat he got hurt but it's a good sign that he played another inning and a half before coming out.

So what is the playoff setup like for Peoria? Home field advantage? Best of how many?

http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/events/page.jsp?ymd=20080715&content_id=432783&vkey=events_l118&fext=.jsp&sid=l118

it's very confusing, but from what i can understand the chiefs would have "home field advantage" in their first series (which is best of 3) and they have the option of either playing game 1 at home, or game 1 on the road and then games 2/3 at home.

Thanks, I was curious how it worked. Think I may try going to a playoff game if they make it.

I went to the Texas league championship in Wichita few years back. Was suprised that no one really came out for it.

No. Here is how it works. The teams from the 1st half automatically get home field. So if we make the playoffs we will be at home for Game 1 on Sep 9, then on the road for games 2 and 3...

If we make the second round, whoever has the best overall record gets the choice. We would take games 2 and 3 at home.

Finals is a best of 5 and it alternates. This season the West has home field so we would host Games 3 4 and 5.

ON Jackson he was dizzy after playing the field another inning and also cramped a bit. Passed the concussion tests, but is going to doctor tmw morning but probably wont play a day or 2. Collision was his fault and he took the worst of it

cedar rapids lost so peoria's magic number is down to 5.

Cedar Rapids is already in the playoffs. They took the wild card in the first half. Our magic number is 6 over Burlington who is currently in the WC spot. Its super confusing.

We will likely play Cedar Rapids in the 1st round. and we meet them Friday-Monday up there this week to see how we stack up.

You know, just for the heck of it, the Cubs should swap the entire Peoria and Chicago rosters. You know, it really wouldn't hurt anything at the big league level. It would actually make for some great national publicity. But then again, we wouldn't want to do that for Peoria's sake...they're in the hunt for a playoff run and it might kill their chances... ](*,)
