The Cubs are frustrating. Why is Miles on this team? Why is Samardzija still up even though he's been brutal and Stevens has had some success? It's just painful.

Yippe Shark stays up and Miles is in the starting lineup the 1st game off DL. UGH! Im assuming this basically means Shark is here to stay for the rest of the year. We only have 25 days till rosters expand.

It looks like the only way Samardzija will go down now is if the Cubs decide that they'd rather have Gorzelanny as a long reliever than Samardzija. I suspect that's why they kept him in the first place (which is silly because Stevens can pitch almost as long in a game as Samardzija can at this point).

I can probably count the guys I wouldnt rather have than Miles or Shark on one hand.

You guys need to lay off Miles, he can play everywhere... in fact he can even pitch!

i personally hate shark, he was a terrible signing esp for the amount of money he is making and a no trade clause? Seriously i cant wait till he is off this team.

Just a prediction -

I think the Cubs will DL Micah Hoffpauir on Friday with another phantom injury when they call up Geovany Soto. He hasn't played in three games (for the first time this season), so they will be able to backdate his time on the DL four days. They won't send him down because he would lose an option in order to spend 3 weeks in Iowa (rosters expand on September 1st) - not worth it. If they need him earlier than September 1st, he will be eligible to come off the DL on August 17th. Otherwise, we would see him on September 1st.

I don't think the Cubs would want to send Fuld down since we wouldn't have a backup CF. (Not having a backup SS yesterday hurt when Theriot got hit on the arm. Fontenot isn't much of a SS.)

Just FWIW.

This is way overboard and extremely stupid.

The guy's got talent, and he never really focused that much on baseball before. It's not his fault he was rushed up and the management has a hard on for him and won't send him down. Your hate is being applied on the wrong person.

Has Aaron Miles achieved a higher level of hatred amongst Cubs fans as Corey Patterson, Bob Howry, and Latroy Hawkins?

I think Neifi takes the cake for me. Miles is pretty close though.

couple of things

I generally dont hate players as much as I really get aggravated by mis-management that either has these poor players on the team or over play players who should be getting much less time or a combo of both(as in the case of Miles)

When did baseball start allowing faux injuries? Baseball used to be much better than Basketball and other sports about allowing expanded rosters using the IR.

Blanco is more valuable of a player than Miles...which speaks volumes to how frickin bad Miles is.

But atleast Nefti had OPS over .600 during his stint with the Cubs. Aaron Miles would have to go on a hot streak just to reach .600. In other words, it wouldn't surprise me if Miles is having one of the worst seasons in baseball history, at least offensive anyways.

So Fuld has a stay of execution until Friday. When Soto's activated either Fuld or Hoffpauir goes down.

Hoffpauir isn't going anywhere

Really? :D

I feel like Stevens has warmed up in every game he's been on the roster. Lou appears to prefer Stevens over Samardzija, but Shark stays? He's awful. He wasn't nearly as good as people thought he was last year, and he's gotten worse the more major league hitters have seen his stuff. Is Hendry overruling Lou?

Lou has also sounded frustrated and critical of Samardzjia in the media.

And this is weird because Lou seems to usually get what he wants in terms of players coming and going, like Wuertz.

Which if it wasn apparently before it is now. Shark staying in Chicago is clearly a Hendry decision, as is Aaron Miles.
