Technically not yet. LeMahieu is batting for Mesa as we speak right now. :P

Nice. :)

Has anyone heard about Chris Weimer? He hasn't played in a few weeks, but I haven't seen any transactions on him.

No. The problem is Mesa's roster has so much space that there's no point in DLs.

That could also explain Kemp's prolonged absence.

Vitters still struggling in FSL. I still don't get the need to rush him to the higher level when he wasn't even dominating low A.

A July promotion is hardly rushing him.

At this point, he will likely start next year in Daytona again, but now he has all offseason to work knowing full well about what his new level of competition entails.

I'm happy at least with the fact that he's still not striking out very much against more advanced pitchers.

Oh, btw, I have very little trust on LD percentage at that level, but they do have him at a 15.3% LD percentage. His BABIP so far in Daytona is only .253. And he's hitting a lot of ground balls, so that also should have caused a slightly higher BABIP than if he were hitting a lot of fly balls. He's almost certainly been a little unlucky so far.

What? What does the month have to do with anything? I'm talking about his age and experience level. He wasn't dominating low A, and was promoted after one hot weekend following a month of struggling. And he's struggled for a good month in Daytona (when they haven't been rained out). I didn't get the timing then, and I don't get it now.

Oh, and he was promoted in June, no?

It was either the end of June/start of July. It doesn't really matter..my point wasn't the month, but rather that a midseason promotion is not rushing Vitters at all. What's wrong with giving him a look at a higher level? The thing he needs to work on (figuring out what strikes in the strike zone he should hit and laying off pitcher's strikes) is better worked on in Daytona where the pitchers are better at hitting their spots.

If his strikeout rate had gone way up, I would be concerned that he just isn't ready for the level. That hasn't happened though, and he'll make adjustments and figure out which pitches he can drive against better pitching and which pitches he can't. Now we'll have a better idea of his development if he can come back to Daytona at the start of next year having made the adjustments he needs to make over the winter.

Dwayne Kemp has a right leg injury of some kind.

Will be tracking every pitch of the Tenn/Mobile series this week. Last night Patton only lasted like 40 pitches. 2 runs scored via errors, I have no idea why they took him out so early. Papelbon was lights out. Doug Deed's home run was a mammoth home run over the center field wall. The CF wall at Hank Aaron Stadium is about 20 feet tall, and the ball landed about 15 feet past the fence. I'm currently uploading the video to the D-Backs server right now, if I get some free time I'll put the videos of Thomas' and Deeds' home runs up. They're only shots of home plate, but you can at least see the contact.

Not sure I'm allowed to do that, but whatever.
