I'm amazed that this team is tied for 1st in the loss column, considering this might be the worst offense in the league. Yes, the pitching is strong, but as Lou has said all along, this team has to hit.

This team is the most boring team since the 2002 Cubs team. Have you guys ever seen a team that makes as many easy outs as this team?

"Broken bat grounder to second"

"Lazy fly out"

"Three hoper to short".

This team doesn't instill fear in anyone but our pitching staff who have to watch this garbage night in and night out. It was an appalling off=season for Hendry, yet he might win his third straight NLC crown.

Anyway, avoid the sweep tomorrow and come on home.

Shouldn't you be Cubstitle4?

:-))

Welcome to the forum.

And yeah, this team is very painful to watch. I can't say it's as bad as 2002, because that team was just god awful. But, there is the fact that this team makes more than twice as much as the 2002 team and they shouldn't even be in competition with the 2002 team.

It mine as well be 500 games. This team is terrible and lacks any kind of chemistry; the players appear to pretty much hate one another.

I blame Lou Piniella, Milton Bradley and Jim Hendry.

The fact that the "we need to get more left-handed" talk continues even after the offseason of fail makes me yearn for a shotgun blast to the head.

I think Lou is doing more than people think. The problem is, he's driving a Lincoln, so it has a wide turning radius.

You're security in the bleachers, not the clubhouse attendant.

I've spend a good portion of this season working on the field as a field guard. Certainly not a clubhouse attendant, but I'm still in close proximity with the players and have the opportunity to see them interact during warmups before gates open. Thus, I can assure you based on what I see that they do not "hate" each other.

Next time, try getting your facts straight before you make smartass comments.

Oh, my fault. That makes a world of difference. Being 50 feet away instead of 150 feet away gives you remarkable insight into the innermost thoughts and feelings of the team, as well as the overall mood and tenor of the clubhouse and camaraderie of the roster.

I'm happy you have a cool job at the park, but get some perspective. Not even the beat reporters always know if those guys get along. Your statement is no more or less a guess than the other one.

He gave his perspective in response to somebody who claimed they also had an opinion on the team's chemistry. And no offense to Gingerballs, but he probably has an even less direct view of the team. What's really wrong with what Roast said?

Questioning Gingerball's basis for his opinion or just disagreeing with his statement is one thing. Speaking as if you have some authority on the issue will likely result in the basis of your authority being called into question. Roast stated he knew, as a fact, that the team didn't hate each other because he works at Wrigley. As others have said, I'd question a beat writer who spoke from authority on the team's feelings for one another (there can be exceptions, i.e., "I saw Player X punch player Y in the face, I'm pretty sure they hate each other). A security person at Wrigley has even less authority on this issue, imo.

Heh, based on the content, it means I made a pretty stupid post.

.5 games out now.

He probably does have "some" authority -- more than the average person around here, perhaps. He gave his perspective, and gave full disclosure as to what his perspective was.

Thus, I can assure you based on what I see that they do not "hate" each other.

He certainly did not - that was your (and some others') interpretation.

That's a pretty bad job of analyzing that sentence. "based on what I see" isn't a disclaimer there. It's further support for his alleged authority to speak on the subject. He's just telling his audience why he has the authority he claims to have.

Plus, that's not what I was referring to. It started with this:

I am there every day and I can assure you this team does not "hate one another."

how often do teams that hate each other fight on the field during bp? they're smart enough to keep it in the clubhouse if they hate each other.

I'm going to go with Roast on this one.

I think it's fair to say that people at the park talk to one another. If things were bad somebody working there would find out pretty quick. I don't think he was dealing any inside dope though.

I'm not going to go back and read every post since I left for work this morning, but from what I see I think I should clarify:

What I'm basing my statement off of is the fact that they're not just going about their business out there on the field and leaving it at that. They do appear to be having a lot of fun most of the time. Joking, messing around with each other, etc. There's lots of things that don't get caught on camera, whether it be Marshall going over to the dugout after sori hit his homer the other day and slapping him five or watching the pitchers do sprints in the outfield with carlos zambrano's dog who happened to be at the park yesterday (a pug, if anyone cares) and having a great time with it. Or watching guys go out early and play frisbee on the field.

Bradley is another guy who is constantly going out of his way to congratulate teammates and such. Plus, when I am on the field I'm sitting right next to the bullpen and there is absolutely nothing I see there that would even remotely indicate that they hate each other.

So there you go. I elaborated.

I'm pretty sure they have instituted team luaus for morale purposes in the clubhouse. And a cardboard picture of Hendry with tear-offs revealing more skin each time they lose. Lou's gold on motivation.
