No need to send down Fox. Send down Jesus (sam fuld), Shark, and get rid of Patton. Fox is probably our 2nd best hitter right now. Please keep him in Chicago Jimbo!

I'm on the fence on this one.. Yes, he's crushing the ball, but he has no spot right now on the field (won't get regular at-bats).

He may not get regular at-bats, but he'd be the Cubs' best pinch-hitter. He's providing what the Cubs hoped Hoffpauir would provide. He HAS to stay; it's a no-brainer. The correct move would be to give up on the silly notion that they need 12 pitchers and send Patton packing.

Is this speculation due to the roster spot that needs to be cleared for ARam?

+ Johnson and Guzman coming back.

I'm wondering if his bat is worth putting up with poor defense at 2B.

You sound like my son. He'd love to see Jake Fox at second.

I think it's too much of a gamble at such a key defensive position. If he did somehow land that job, you can bet he'd rarely--if ever--see playing time past the 7th inning. Andres Blanco/Aaron Miles/Jeff Baker/Joey Crapbackupinfielder would more than likely come in as a defensive replacement, limiting Fox to 3-4 ab's per game.

I just can't see Fox turning a double play like the one Theriot & Blanco turned to end the top of the 7th today.

They could give up that silly notion and just send Hart and Shark down. Has either really been any better than Patton?

People are still questioning if his bat is worth his defense at 3B... let alone 2B.

Jake has only 2 fewer home runs and 4 fewer RBI than offseason prize Milton Bradley in 39 fewer games. Nuff said.

Not really. Fox has options. Bradley doesn't. Not to mention the paycheck differences. Like it or not, that all plays a role.

i don't think he was suggesting that bradley be sent down or dfa'd. he was saying that's why fox would stay.

Knowing this is the Cubs, I am trying to get prepare for the rage that will enter me when they send Fox down and keep these worthless bums like Patton and Hart up.

I think Fox can still get a decent number of ABs/starts if he stays with the Cubs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he can give Soriano, Lee, Bradley and ARam breaks when they need them. ARam especially will likely not be ready to go everyday with the lingering soreness in his shoulder. Fox should get 1-2 starts a week at 3B, and 1-2 starts a week in the OF or 1B. That's 2-4 starts a week, and key right handed pinch hitter the other days.

This is why I'm optimistic that Fox is kept up. Aramis going to have to have more days off then usual and I doubt Lou wants/will tolerate Fontenot back over there with his recent comments.

Why can't they move Soriano to second and put Fox in left? Money aside, you bench Bradley and put Fox in RF and start him everyday. You can't put this guy back in the minors. He's proven he can hit. As much as people love Fuld pitchers are going to find out his weaknesses and exploit them like every other rookie. I love his energy but Fox has to be on the squad no matter what.

That would be a possibility too. I was really thinking more of the idea of cutting back to 11 pitchers than which pitcher would go down.
