Seriosuly though, theres still a decent chance that Soriano will take the last fan voted outfield spot.

Hopefully, the pure ridiculousness of that would put a stake in the heart of the fans' voting in the players.

Has the worst starting player on a team ever made the all-star game before?

I think it's going to have a lot to do with the manager- and player-selected roster spots, given the 1-player-per-team rule. For example, Cristian Guzman's hitting .330 for the Nats, but Dunn's hitting reasonably well enough that he could theoretically be the Nats' representative, which would leave a potential reserve shortstop spot for Theriot, and MLB can also then use Dunn in the HR Derby. There are more machinations involved for the reserves than simply who's playing the best at each position.

I said this in the game thread the other day:

90% chance it's Lilly

8% chance it's Wells

2% chance it's Theriot

Lilly deserves it more but it could easily be Zambrano. He has the name and his stats aren't too bad and not a lot worse than Lilly.

I think you overestimate Wells' chances by 8%.

He actually wouldn't be a bad pick, but you're right, he's not getting in through player voting and I doubt he gets selected as the Cubs only representative over Lilly.

Lee is the only player on the team that is deserving of an all-star game appearance. Unfortunately, the NL is stacked with better 1b, so it will probably be Lilly.
