AF - Did you see me get rocked in the face by foul ball in 1st inning last night (section 119)?

 

Perfect foul ball right to me; it was hit fairly hard but I easily had it. Going to have an easy two handed catch like right at my chest and out of nowhere this like 6'7'' dude 2 rows in front of me tips it and it nails me in the mouth....blood everywhere. Fat lip this morning.

Just embarassing, especially when nobody notices "the tip" and just think I have the worst hands in the world.

 

The Pitt ushers/staff were great though, even made me feel like a little kid by giving me a ball, haha.

I've always heard that Pittsburgh is a nice place. I'd love to be able to swing a weekend in September to catch both a Pirates and a Steelers game.

Hard to say. I've been a few times, as a clueless tourist and with locals. It's a nice town, but the skyline view from the ballpark glorifies it a bit. It's very much a rust belt town, and the weather can be god awful miserable. But they've done a nice job keeping it from falling apart after the decline of midwestern industry. It helps that it's a college town.

yeah, as a city that has always relied very heavily on industry, it is in surprisingly good shape. I believe I heard it's actually going to play host to the next G-20 summit, FWIW

When I went, I thought that the whole downtown area was quite interesting. It felt like a miniature version of the New York financial district. Overall, what I saw, which wasn't much, was quite nice. I basically stayed downtown and walked to the ballpark and back. I was only there for one day on a baseball trip. Also, I had very low expectations, so that helped. I think that the river and the hills along with some unique buildings make the city fairly nice overall, though.

Had a good time at the couple games I was at. It was my first time in Pitt since I was about 10 and they played at Three Rivers. Very nice stadium and staff.

 

Too bad there is just NOTHING to do in Pittsburgh.

Actually, Pittsburgh is pretty damn nice. It's pleasantly surprising. I would agree with jersey that the ballpark does glorify the downtown/skyline some, but it's surprisingly nice for a true rust belt city. The ballpark is unquestionably outstanding.
