I figure this team wil have a couple of weeks when ARAM comes back to see if they can turn it around; if not, i expect several guys will be gone

I hope not, I really want Hendry having no part of trying to sell. We'll just get back a bunch of Cesar Izturis type player.

SELL! SELL! SELL!

Which guy should we sell? Remembering that pretty much everyguy has a no trade clause.

Yeah, I'm sure none of those guys would want out of this baseball nirvana. My bad.

Marmol, Lilly, Harden, Johnson (if he's healthy), Heilman, Gregg, Lee if he would wave his NTC.

I would agree with all but the first two; Marmol despite his control problems is too valuable of an asset to get rid of, and if we get rid of Lilly and Harden who's left to start?

Marshall and Samardzija

Who cares? We could get some sort of young pitching for them Lilly is at his peak value right now and if you look at the trade market right now for top pitchers Lilly is probably close to being the best available with injuries to a lot of guys.

Tigers just took the lead on the Stros, so if it holds up, the Sox will be gaining now ground. Too bad thats the only satisfaction Ill get out of this. If everythig else holds up, instead of a 3rd place team 3.5 games back, we'll be a 4th place team 3.5 games back, and I guess this team is a 4th or 5th place team in a mediocre division, so we may as well accept it.

I don't think I want this team to be a seller just yet, but I certainly don't want them to make any deal involving legit prospects. I'd much rather just stay with what we have and let things play out rather than give up prospects trying to salvage this abomination of a season.

I'm so afraid that Jim will trade Vitters.

I would get rid of Harden before i would trade Lilly; at least Lilly makes 30 starts a year

If Hendry is dumb enough to trade Vitters, Castro, Jackson etc to try and salvage this season then I'll be the first one in front of Wrigley with a Fire Jim Hendry sign. That type of move would be a ploy to save his job and would have nothing to do with helping the team.

I agree, but he's gonna make a move to respond to DeRosa. I hope it isn't Vitters plus a guy for a month and a half of Holliday.

I wouldnt trade Vitters, I dont think Castro has enough value yet, but Id move Jackson if the return is right.

I dont' even know how I would react to something like that. Something like that would stand a high chance of making me into a casual fan; I couldn't make myself follow this team with the same intensity.

My reasoning is it's obvious this team isn't good enough to win the WS/in the playoffs, so why not sell? We have contracts starting to balloon and if we can move a guy or two it gives us some flexibility in FA next year and on the trade market. We should also be able to get talent back for Harden, Lilly, Gregg, Lee, etc. So we shed some payroll and add some depth to the farm or guys who can help us at the major league level.

Like I said Lilly probably has a much value as he ever will have on the trade market right now given his success this year, contract, and low amount of talented pitchers available. I don't think we could get much for Harden right now, but closer to the deadline we should be able to get something for him as a team(s) will get more desperate and he has time to improve/prove he's healthy. Teams are always looking for BP help and Gregg/Heilman would probably be attractive to someone. Johnson could be of value for a team that needs a 4th OF/RH bat that hits LH pitching well. Lee has proven he still has something in the tank and if he would accept a trade there are multiple teams that would be interested (Mets, Angels, Giants, Braves).

Well on the bright side if they continue this type of dreadful performance they'll get a pretty decent draft pick next year.

You really have faith they won't pick a toolsy outfielder or college reliever though?

Since you couldn't, Milton, I just threw my hat out my window on your behalf. Neighbor called me a POS too.

obviously your neighbor is a racist.

Screw it. Sox stay 5 games back. Cobs stay 3.5 games back, whatever. If the Cobs decide they want the division, they can take it. If not, we'll see how the offseason goes. We all know as much as we wish we could quit, we'll still follow these losers no matter how much of a mess they are.

Not really, but I do know that I enjoy watching minor league prospects much more than I enjoy watching this circus.
