Thank lord for this dude. He has been just tearing it up lately and with half decent defense to boot.

Gotta find a reason to DL Soriano or Bradley to keep this guy in the lineup

I believe Bradley gave Lou a reason to send him to the DL today. :P

I hope to God Milton Bradley gets moved, because when Aramis gets back, we have to find at bats for Hoff and Fox. Especially Fox.

Lou didn't sound very convincing in his press conference today, with his non-commitment to play Fox everday. I still don't understand the over the top criticism of his defense. Based on the hesitation to play him anywhere in the field, I was expecting something epically bad, but he has been just fine. Stick him out there every day, be willing to live with a few errors, and be done with it!

It makes even less sense when you consider how bad our offense has been. You'd think he would want to get a spark in there as often as he could.

Exactly. This guy should be playing everyday, even when Aramis is back.

Realistically, neither Bradley or Soriano are going to be benched for Fox and both have immoveable contracts. However, if he keeps this up, and proves that hes not the defensive black hole he was sold as, it will be hard to keep him out of the lineup, which brings me to wonder if their any chance that they'll revisit the Soriano to 2nd base idea, and give Fox LF, and that way we can focus on bullpen help at the deadline.

Losing the game sucked, but I was down the LF line at Comerica on Thursday and it was awesome when half the crowd erupted in cheers when he ripped the HR in the first.

Hopefully he boosts his stock enough so we can trade him for something really useful when ARam returns.

I dont want to trade him. Id rather find a way to get him into the lineup full time.

Guy can't field. When ARam comes back and all corner positions on the team are full, Fox is likely to be most valuable for what he can bring back. It's going to be tough to improve this team offensively, unless some great offensive 2B is out there waiting to be acquired for Jake Fox and a mid-level prospect. But I can always hope.

Still, if Fox does keep hitting, we could spend next spring training trying to get Soriano to re learn 2nd and Fox Left or train him to be the heir apparent of Lee when he departs. Remember, hes only 26, so hes not one of those 30 something AAAAers we have in Iowa.

Granted, if the right deal was available, Id say move him, but I dont see any top of the line second basemen being available. DeRosas the closest thing, and Cleveland wants pitching.

I wonder how many of those low scoring 1 run losses we had in that 2-3 week stretch, and Aaron Miles was starting, we would have won had Fox been playing.

I wonder the same thing. Lou has been an idiot with Fox. Honestly Fox has looked just as good at 3rd than Fontenot has. Bradley is awful and should be benched. I could care less about his contract. Random trade idea though. Since it doesn't look like Fox has any future with us, what about Fox for Cano?

That would be an absolute coup for the Cubs, but it bears the question of what use the Yankees would have for Fox. The answer is "very little" and certainly not enough to give up a core player like him.

Let's hope so.

The Cubs need to get in the business of keeping young sluggers, not trading them away. Keep guys like Fox and do whatever it takes to move guys like Lee, Fuku and Bradley(Soriano we are surely stuck with).

Also, why are you worried about improving the team offensively and then wishing to trade Fox?

A smart GM and manager knows his teams strengths and weaknesses. The team isn't very good defensively, but that isn't the reason they are losing. They are losing because they can't hit, and when they hit, the bullpen fails. Hit the ball and pitch well. It's a winning combo.

A run prevented is as valuable as a run scored, isn't it? By all accounts, his D is so bad that he's likely to cost more runs defensively than he produces offensively.

There's no reason to trade ARam and it's going to be impossible to trade Lee or Soriano. If you can trade Fox and improve the team overall, why wouldn't you? I'm not saying it's necesssarily possible, I have no idea what's really available. But if he can tear up the league for a few weeks, I really hope Jim's fielding calls for him, rather than saying he's untouchable.
