Cubs, Indians Discussed DeRosa

By Mike Axisa [June 27 at 8:56am CST]

According to Gordon Wittenmyer of The Chicago Sun-Times, the Cubs had conversations with the Indians earlier this month about reacquiring jack-of-all-trades guy Mark DeRosa. Wittenmyer says any potential move to bring DeRosa back to the north side depends "on the asking price and ownership's willingness to take on about $2 million in salary." Aramis Ramirez could come off the disabled list before the All-Star break, and his performance would also be a factor in any potential move.

Jayson Stark reported that the Cubbies were considering making a move for DeRosa earlier this week.

Come on Jim, we wont say so much as an I told you so. Just make it happen for that love of all that is good.

Knowing Derosa feelings about Chicago, I wondering if Mark is privately hoping the Indians send him back to the Cubs? :-k

If you heard what he was saying when at Wrigley for the Indians series, theres really nothing private about it.

DeRosa is not in the starting lineup tonight, and was reportedly not on the field with the rest of the team during warmups/batting practice. Speculation is that he has been traded...

Yea if the Cubs lose today AND the Cardinals acquire DeRosa, I'll probably punch a wall in.

you're halfway there

My guess is he's going to the Mets

I'm guessing Kenny Williams traded for him, so he can rub it in the Cub's face.

Seriously though, if the Cubs trade for him I hope they don't give up a whole lot.

My guess is he's not going anywhere cause this isn't anywhere on any board.

yeah i was just gonna say, i haven't seen this talked about on any Indians board.

DeRosa traded according to Baseball tonight, haven't said where though.
