Ryan Dempster (4-3, 3.87) comes into today's game having lasted at least 6 innings in 12 of his first 13 starts of the season, 8 of which were quality starts. In his three starts since the Pirates came to town and roughed him up on Freddy Sanchez day, Dempster has allowed just one earned run in 20 innings, accompanied with a puny little WHIP of 1.0 in that span. He also chased a bear away from the dugout after the fifth inning (pictured above).

danks (4-5) takes the mound for the white sox. Since the middle of May, he has allowed 25 runs in 33 innings, and frankly, he just looks lost out there. He's way out of his element, and today the bottom line is that he's clearly outmatched by a superior team. Experts and baseball analysts across the board liken him to a modern-day Eddie Gaedel--sure, he's good for a few laughs and can even get the job done if he gets lucky enough, but when push comes to shove, he's genetically unfit for the game of baseball. It's science.

MLB.com has Danks vs. Dempster. Not it would make sense if Z was pitching today, but the fact that its Dempster kind of annoys me. Is Lou just skipping Well now because he had one rough start after a series of wasted gems.

And I don't think the Sox have ever seen Wells? Did he pitch against them in the Pen last year? Too lazy to look it up. Anyway, we all know what the Sox do against pitchers they have never seen.

He only pitched 4 games for Toronto last year, but I dont know who they were against. After that, we didnt bring him up until September.

I really dont see the problem in skipping your #5 starter so you can allow your #1 and 2 starters to pitch. Seems like common sense to me, plus Z has always pitched better on more than 5 days rest. Im hoping though they slot Wells in Friday to give Harden an extra days rest as well as Lilly. With the amount of games we are going to be playing coming up without an offday, they need to give extra rest to any of the starters when they can.
