The Twins are a pretty decent team. I live on the border of Minnesota/Wisconsin so I hear about them all the time.

 

Mauer is the best catcher and possibly hitter in baseball when healthy.

 

Morneau is a monster as well.

 

Both kill leftys as well.

 

Span is a solid lead off guy. I dunno if they are going to do it for Interleague but they do bat their best hitter 2nd in Joe Mauer.

 

Jason Kubel destroys rightys but doesn't hit leftys. Cuddeyer was red hot against us, he can hit the ball out of the ballpark but unless he is hot he sucks. Joe Crede is Joe Crede. Homer or K.

 

When they play Span,Gomez,Cuddyer in the OF they have a pretty solid defense. Gomez is the best defesnsive CF in baseball and arguably one of the fastest players in baseball.

 

Slowey can be hit but doesn't walk anyone. If he qualified he would of been I think number 2 in WHIP last year. Joe Nathan is a hammer in the 9th. But if you can get Slowey out early everyone not named Nathan blow and you should destroy them.

 

IF this was ever a World Series match up my head would explode.

That comment is a bit outlandish, but he's up there amongst the best pure hitters in baseball. When you factor power in there then it's a differnet story.

 

Then again, in only 37 games this year he has taken his game to a new level. He already has 12 HRs, only 1 off his career high (in a year he played 140 games). He also has driven in more runs in 37 games (36) than any Cub has driven in this year over 57 games (27). He's been good...very good.

I just wouldn't use the word "best" with the phrase "hitter in baseball" when talking about Mauer.

I agree and I have to say, he certainly deserves to hear it. He has been pretty bad for the first two months of the season. He left A LOT of runners on base on the road trip and that potential double play in Houston that was botched by Tejada a terrible piece of hitting as he just didn't want to K. He's letting good pitches go by and swinging at garbage when he gets in a hole. The team needed him to pick up his offense when ARam went down and he regressed further. His antics with the umps have gotten on my nerves and I suspect he's coming close to losing all fan support.

After the last attempt of Soriano ut of the leadoff spot, I doubt Lou will ever move him, although its needed. The difference is, last time it was to help the offense by getting him in the middle of the order, this time it would be to put him at the end of it to limit the damage,
