So, Carlos Zambrano is awesome. How he could not be anyone's favorite player is beyond me.

He became my favorite Cub the day he beaned Jim Edmonds twice.

Was that the same game when I think Rolen hit a home run, and the very next pitch Z nailed Edmonds and walked off the field? Didnt bother waiting to be thrown out or anything. Not that was a classic Z moment.

where did i say i hate him?

i just don't see why he'd automatically be everyone's favorite player. it's fun watching him compete and hit and stuff, but by all accounts the guy is a big time a-hole, and really he's not a great pitcher anymore. he's a nice player.

but nice try acting like i'm the only one who realizes that this guy is pretty much a d-bag

Yep, in 2004. It was one of the most intense non-playoff games I'd ever seen, with the lead going back and forth throughout. Z gave up I think his second HR of the day to Rolen and, on his very next pitch, he drilled Edmonds in the lower back.

hitting guys because you're pissed that you just gave up a game winning homer is awesome

I suggest a new strategy R2, let the wookie win

my favorite z is still the dugout z when he's not pitching. especially when the cubs win on a walkoff home run. he's always the first one to home plate bouncing around like a little kid.

you can say a lot of bad things about z, but the guy wants the TEAM to win.

wait, so you make a useless post to show your disdain, instead of actually contributing and saying where i'm out of line?

i don't believe it

i bet to feel pretty big when you take shots behind a keyboard though. you must get laid so much.

the funny part is that when i saw you had posted in this thread i knew right away that would be the same unjustified garbage from you.

how aobut you break the mold and tell me how i'm wrong to think that a guy of zambrano's "character" shouldn't be the one player that fans unanimously like the most. is it his declining performance? his childish behavior? his temper? the way he constantly disrespects his teammates?

i remember when i stayed at the same hotel as the cubs last year in miami i was standing in the elevator and it stopped on a floor to pick some people up. my and a couple other people in the elevator had just got back from the cubs game so we still had our cubs stuff on. the door opens and jim edmonds in all his glory is standing there. there was like a 5 second awkward silence as he just stared as us. it was really weird. eventually he's like "uhh, i'll catch the next one." then the elevator door slowly closes as edmonds is still just staring as us

really weird moment

"You must get laid so much." Really? Is that how you defend yourself, Dexter? Jesus. I've been on this board less than a week and I all ready know you're someone to avoid.

Back on topic, though.

If I heard correctly, Zambrano is only the 4th player in the last 40 years to get 100 wins with the Cubs. And he's 6th all time on our strikeout list. Not bad. I think he has the ability to be better, though, and his head stifles him significantly.

Congrats to Z! It's fitting that he hit the HR, too.

Does he hold the Cubs single-season HR record for pitchers?

I think he has the career one, don't know about single season though.
