There's no way to know, but they're obviously a lot closer to being true than his ridiculous Coors numbers.

And what do you notice about his road numbers?

lol dexxies at it again with career road numbers

i wonder why a player wouldn't hit as well in at&t or petco park as coors. these are things you'd have to worry about if you didn't want a guy to play in a hitters park

which is what wrigley is

i'm a little slow, so I'm going to try to spell this out. Are you suggesting that looking at road numbers for a guy who played the majority of his road games in huge pitcher's parks like SF, LA, and SD isn't wise if you're not looking to add the game to a team that plays its home games in such a park?

Yes, Coors inflates numbers. And the other NLW parks deflate them. Odd to eliminate one outlier and base your analysis entirely on numbers impacted by the other outliers.

The As gave up Carlos Gonzalez, Greg Smith and Houston Street for Holliday this past offseason.

I'd be surprised if Beane would take less than what he gave for Holliday. Do we have the pieces to match what the Rockies obtained?

Hendry and Beane seem to have a good relationship. I think Hendry could pull off another one of his patented rabbit out of a hat trades. Remember, between the Nomar, Aramis, and Harden trades, the one guy we MIGHT end up missing one day is Gallagher. Hendry may throw foolish contracts at players, but hes good with trades when this time of year rolls around.

Josh Donaldson's a long way away, and won't stick at catcher, but he could still do something.

Donaldson could easily stick at C.

I don't know, I'd much rather have Brendan Harris on the team than Aaron Miles.

And what do you notice about his road numbers?

that they've gotten better every year

WHICH I TALKED ABOUT IN MY POST

just like how i said holliday is probably like a .900 guy in a neutral park

if you're not going to read my posts, then don't reply to them and say things that i've already explained. it's pretty simple

i'm not going to ignore park factors, but as with the tireless khalil greene debates last year, if you're otherworldly good in half of your at-bats or downright god awful in half of your at-bats that simply can't be ignored or brushed aside

fwiw Hollidays hitting .343/.467/.525 over the past month

=what's your point? i don't see anyone here denying that holliday is a good player. i already said he was a good hitter, multiple times. it's not my fault you can't tell the difference between "matt holliday is a mediocre hitter who only looked good because of coors" and "matt holliday is a really good hitter, but not as good as his coors inflated numbers made him look"

finally came to my senses? my stance has been the same since the beginning... that holliday is a good player, but not as good as coors made him look. my point was that i might be willing to move soriano to second for a 1.000 OPS monster, but not for a .900 OPS guy. not once did i say holliday sucks. just that imo he's not good enough to warrant moving soriano to second and dishing out prospects when he's only a rental.

So fit the plan was to sign Holiday long term, would we be willing to part with Vitters in a deal? I know if we wanted to wait untilt the offseason, we could sign him without giving anyone up, but still, we sure could use someone like him right about now. Problem is, it would involve moving Soriano to 2nd base premanantly. Ive never seen him play 2nd, so I dont know quite how bad he is. Would Vitters, Marshall, and someone like Jay Jackson or Andrew Cashner be similar enough to the package that netted Oakland Holiday to get it done? Would it be way too much to give up? Maybe Oakland would even kick us another reliever like they did with the Harden deal. I hear they have a nice slider specialist.

Offer him arbitration at the end of this year though and you will get an extra first round pick at the least.

I still wouldn't give up Vitters for him. Some combo of Marshall, Jackson, Fox, maybe Cashner, Colvin, etc. would have to be enough. Otherwise, we're giving up too much since we likely can't re-sign him after the year.

Cardinals are ramping up efforts to acquire Holliday.

Increasingly impatient with their halting outfield production, the Cardinals are redoubling efforts to acquire Oakland A's left fielder Matt Holliday, according to club and other sources. Reluctant to commit a multi-player package to the Colorado Rockies for Holliday last November, the Cardinals are now open to sending a similar package to Oakland for the 2007 National League batting champion.

Such a package would probably include right fielder Ryan Ludwick and either reliever Jason Motte, Chris Perez or Kyle McClellan, plus a prospect.

Chairman Bill DeWitt Jr., who opposed the November deal for Holliday, is apparently on board with assuming the remainder of Holliday's $13.5 million salary.

I'm hoping Oakland holds out for Colby Rasmus or Brett Wallace.

Ludwicks been terrible lately, Oaklands already has a great pen, so the Cards better be offeing up a nice prospect in that deal.
