Imagine if he gets the no-no and misses the perfect game on that.

Hey, Escobar might have gotten a hit on the next pitch. You never know.

He also probably would have taken that pitch on the chin if his bat wasn't right there.

Is it possible that Randy Wells is actually good?

I didn't know the whole back story on him (on how he was recently converted and hasn't been pitching for very long)...

Hypotheticaly, if the rest of the game goes the same way, and thats the only Braves baserunner, would they be able to overturn it and make it a perfect?

He's been pitching since 2004.

Yeah, that ball was at least a foot from his head.

Looked like he had the bat close to his head/chest when it hit him. I'll have to watch the replay to double check.

What's your definition of recently? He converted to pitching the same year as Marmol - 2003.

I was going to ask this question. I didn't even remember that he pitched 4 innings for the Cubs last year 'til I looked on baseball reference.

No, and I'll hope Wells takes the higher route and doesn't become Pappas.

I could see that not happening for the same reason they wouldn't go back for CC Sabathia's one-hitter last year — the "pressure" or whatever.

What the hell has gotten into Randy Wells. He wasn't that highly regarded in the minors. Now he's pitching like he's Pedro Martinez or something. I guess it is the Braves.

It was clear that it got the bat.
