I, for one, am not upset by the decision to put Marshall in the pen at the expense of Wells going to the rotation. Randy deserves it, and Marshall will be very valuable in the pen as a guy who can eat up 2 innings at a time, or even spot start when necessary. A good long man in the pen is worth his weight in gold.

traditionally, hasnt Lee really heated up in June?

In every year prior to 05, he pretty much sucked until June. In 07 and 08, he actually played worse in June. So in sum, I have no idea what to make of him.

Haha I can imagine. What'd he say?

something like: "we'll you can imagine he's a little gunshy, he just got hit in the head with a pitch"

And he let out a sarcastic chuckle after it.

Is it possible that Randy Wells is actually good?

I didn't know the whole back story on him (on how he was recently converted and hasn't been pitching for very long)...

He's been pitching since 2004.

6 innings in 2003 between Mesa and Lansing.

He wasn't converted to pitching full-time until 2004, iirc. He had a number of ABs between Lansing and Mesa in 2003.

He was hitting at Lansing in 2003 but he was demoted to Mesa and converted around June or July. Kinda like Blake Parker a few seasons ago (converted to pitcher a day after hitting a grand slam) or Jake Muyco Andres Quezada last year.
