At least it wasn't Lee?

Yeah, this team kinda sucks. I'd be shocked if they make the postseason.

Yes, I know it's not even June yet. I don't care. this team isn't good enough.

Soriano is so bad with runners on base

he just swings at everything

I've always had a hunch that a majority of his walks are taken when there aren't RISP's. He doesn't seem to mind working the count and taking a walk in those situations, but when there are RBI opportunities, he gets super aggressive and swings at horrible pitches. He will still sometimes take pitches, but only to get ahead in the count in order to increase the probability of him getting a hittable pitch. If he gets a 2-0 count, he'll just start flaling away at anything to avoid walking.

They'll be fine... I mean... it's the weather right? These south american players only hit in the warm, remember?

In all seriousness, I think we'll be fine... I can't wait til Ramirez is back.

Doesn't Lee only have 1 GIDP this season? It's time to drop the Lee GIDP jokes because of one outlying year where he hit into a bunch of them.

Neither can I, but on the same token that also means wishing away my entire summer, not good.

I like that he pretended like he was going to bunt on the best pitch of the entire at bat.

To say i would be shocked if this team made the postseason would be the biggest understatement of my life.

The top of the Cub's lineup is just god awful.

so is the bottom of it. if soriano dips below .250 the cubs will have two regulars - theriot and soriano - hitting above .250. that's atrocious.

I hate to buy into conventional 'baseball' knowledge about how certain players are better in the 'clutch' but it applies so strongly to Soriano.

The man literally will hack away if theres a runner on base, leading off he isn't so terrible, he'll take a pitch or two, but he's absolutely brutal if theres anyone close to scoring.

Last October? Does not compute. I had the Cubs portion of my brain erased in mid-October.

Soriano has actually walked a lot more in his career with RISP than with nobody on. In fact, he has walked at more than double the rate. Intentional walks account for some of that but not all.
