I don't know why you guys are pining for ryan freel so badly. I'd rather see Scales out there than freel or miles.

I think we all would rather see Scales than Miles, but id be nice to see what Freel could do a little, if not the drop him and call up Fox.

The main reason they got Freel in the 1st place was to have a 2nd backup middle infielder on the bench so they didn't feel so constrained every time they made 1 move during a game or a player had to sit out a day. They don't actually intend for him to play a lot..he's simply an insurance policy. The Cubs had several games in April when Aramis was day to day where they had no backup on the bench capable of playing 2nd, SS, and 3rd, and they decided that wasn't acceptable.

Bringing Fox up would be better than when they had Gathright, but it would still have that fundamental problem.

not even close to being out.

Fully felt that "pickoff" was based on Molina's reputation moreso then Molina actually getting him. This was a piss poor call for an UMP especially one who was looking directly at the play.

Love when teams give up outs in the first inning.

That was LaRussa telling us his line up is bad (as if we didn't know this).

You think giving up outs in the first is bad? How about defensive indifference?

Turns out it didn't matter though.
