Not sure if it has been discussed, but if it has, my apologies.

He's currently at 23 straight games with a hit.

With him, Adam Dunn, and Elijah Dukes, thats a nice little core to build around, especially if they can ever get a decent pitcher or 2 on that team.

They also have 2 of the biggest recent busts in Corey Patterson and Lastings Milledge on their AAA team. I dont know about Corey and his .371 OPS(yes, thats .371 OPS, not .371 avg), but Milledge might have some trade value left.

well they've got jordan zimmerman and soon they'll have strasburg, so there's 2 pitchers.

The pride of Washington, NC. Or, as people around here like to call it, "Little Washington", as if there were a bigger version right down the road that kept confusing everyone.

I don't really have anything substantial to add, I just thought it's cool that he was born 10 miles from here. Hope he keeps it up - it's not like National fans have much else to cheer for.

The Nat's should def. improve within the next few years if they make the right moves. Guzman has actually been pretty decent the last year or so. Strasburg will probably be pitching by the end of this year with them if he signs quickly, if nothing more than to generate interest and get more fans/media attention.

I really doubt Strasburg will sign quickly.

Besides Strasberg they also have the extra early pick from the Crow debacle.

But they'll probably try to save money with this pick since they'll have to shell out for Strasburg.

I thought I saw on ESPN the other day that they were going to start talking to him soon to try and get something done, I know he has Boras so it will get dragged out but it's possible they get a deal done before/within a few weeks after the draft. I agree with you in that they will probably draft someone who is more like to be a 2-4th rounder with the second pick to save money.

Would anyone in Washington notice?

And will he break the record wearing a Natinals jersey or a Nationals jersey?

His hit streak just ended at 30 games, as he hit into a FC in the top of the 9th.

Kind of a bad way to end the streak. 2 walks (1 intentional) and reaching base on a FC. Sucks for him. I'm sure he was hoping for the end to come on an 0-5 with 5Ks or something like that.

Blame me on this one. I picked him to extend it in the Streak for the Cash and considering I've been horrible at picking this time around, well, it was pretty much a death sentence for his hit streak.
