aTm really has our number. I was hoping KU would be hitting its stride now. Instead, a sloppy win vs Tech, and we're getting pushed around by atm.

You guys are gonna win it all, but having seen most of your games you have played really well for maybe 5 halves all year. Very odd team.

The only reasonable explanation is poor coaching.

i expected more people shredding michigans defense on that last play.

whats the over/under on keller's minutes from here on out?

what defense? they just let him dribble down and pop a 36 footer...turner shouldn't have been able to get the ball in that situation.

Yeah that was just completely stupid. They had four guys down past half court and only one guy in the press. However, if you watch the replay Beilein was screaming for them to go mark Turner and no one listened so like this whole season the Michigan players f'ed up.

This game is getting kinda chippy. Collins maybe with a little more trash talk than I like to see, especially in a close game. No need to give this guys extra juice.

Edit: Turgeon has no business trying to mix it up, though.

Bryan Davis had a lot to do with the chippiness. I love his hustle, but he causes a lot of problems. It started when he threw a little shoulder into Collins as he was walking to the FT line. I saw a thread on a KU board with a lot of people ripping Turgeon and I was quite surprised. I thought he was well liked there. I know I sure like him and hope he sticks around Aggieland for a long time. KU is a great team and we have showed twice now that we can hang with them. Unfortunately we haven't been able to finish either game. I like our team and think we deserve a 5 seed and should make a legitimate run at the Sweet Sixteen.

I think a lot of KU fans think he's kinda whiny. They probably wouldn't mind him as much if he

A: hadn't made a big deal about KU not playing WSU when he coached there.

B: Didn't seem to constantly whine as aTm's coach.

I think in the end, people still like him because he's a Jayhawk, and if Self left, I think a lot of people would list him as their #1 choice to replace him.

ETA: Turg is the kind of guy who you love if he's on your side, but he's real easy to dislike if he's not. Very animated, a straight shooter, very fiery. It comes off bad sometimes.

I don't really see Turge as a whiner at all. At least no more than your average coach. He is definitely a straight shooter and doesn't go in for a whole lot of coach speak. I know that rubs a lot of people the wrong way, but I like it.

Turgeon wears his emotions on his sleeve. I don't know if he whines, but he'll have exaggerated responses to calls that don't go his way, and he's very animated in his in-game interactions. It's not really a bad thing, but as an opposing fan it's pretty annoying to watch(especially when you never ever beat aTm).

Turner shouldn't have been allowed the ball, but come on......if you force the guy to take a 35 foot shot, you don't expect he's going to make it. It's not like he got a layup

I don't really care if other fans think he whines. I just don't see what he does as anything more than your average coach. Maybe I'm just blind to it because I like him. To me, the biggest whiner by far in the conference is Scott Drew. And if you want animated, look no further than Manhattan, KS. I fear Frank Martin is going to stroke out on the sidelines some day.

When there's 2.2 seconds left and Turner catches the ball around the 3 point line in the backcourt, you can probably do better than forcing a shot from the volleyball line. If you don't have anyone on the floor that can stop Turner's dribble, then you need to double him and leave the inbound passer alone.

The thing was they did leave the inbound passer alone. And Turner. Michigan had 4 guys behind the defensive FT line when the play began.

Yep. The guy who was pressing was marking the other Ohio State player.

Basically OSU had one guy inbounding, two guys on that half asking for the ball, and two guys standing under the hoop to force the defense to spread out. Seeing that, Michigan decides to have four guys defend the two decoys by the hoop and one guy mark the non-Turner guy wanting the ball.

They should have left the inbounder alone, had two guys on Turner, one guy on the other guard and two guys marking the decoy. Doing that stops anyone from being able to get the ball moving forward and take relatively unimpeded shot.

an unimpeded shot........from 35 feet away.

this wasn't like the Laettner play against Kentucky

Correct it was 35 feet away. Congrats you've now said it twice. Problem is that doesn't mean Michigan played good defense. They had four defenders defending two guys by the hoop and left the best player in the country by himself. With only 2.2 seconds left unless the offensive player gets a running start he won't be able to get to mid-court. If they had a guy on Turner he likely would have had to put up a 50 foot shot without being able to get set making it a much much less probable shot. Giving a guy like Turner an unimpeded 35 foot shot is playing with fire and a player of his caliber will make it a decent amount of the time.

He complained about the tournament being in "Allen Fieldhouse East," and he said he just hoped the game would be called fair. Kinda tacky. But mostly, I think TT summed it up perfectly.

I agree with you, though, that Scott Drew is much worse. I can't stand that guy.

I would think an Ex-Jayhawk would know the best venues for Kansas players, no?

Turner's shot was very low percentage. Run that play 100 more times and he misses it most of the time. The defense wasn't great for Michigan, but that shot was a hail mary that turner lucked out on

LOL, Seth Greenberg just invoked the transitive property to argue Virginia Tech's case: "People talk about the unbalanced schedule, but we beat the two teams in the league that beat Duke this year, Georgia Tech and NC State."

Agreed, I still would have had two guys on him though.

It was far from a hail mary. He was half-way between the halfcourt line and the 3 point line with nobody around him. He probably makes it 15-20% of the time. You play a shred of defense and that shot becomes 2%.

One defender was easily taken out of the play on the inbounds screen while the other 4 stood around the basket for no reason. There's no need for more than one or two players inside the arc to defend a long inbounds pass.

It's pretty frustrating, and it gives me a lot of concern.
