My gut instinct was they were staying at KU, but Carl wanted to let Self know not to [expletive] with him.

I think the interesting part no matter where they go is what either coach does with CJ. From all accounts he doesn't deserve any legit minutes right away but Dad seems to think he's 1 and done. Is this just more blustering from the dad, or does he honestly believe this crap. I wouldn't be shocked to see CJ moving on to a new school for 2010 no matter where he lands this year.

I don't know what Carl is thinking. I mean, X is gonna play unless he phones it in during practice or half-asses it on D. And by all accounts, he's a hard worker. Although whether he likes it or not, it's gonna be Sherron's team. X and daddy better get used to that.

The CJ thing is a mystery. Carl was quoted as saying something like "Sherron and Tyshawn are nice players, but CJ is better." I'm sure CJ is better than Collins, an all-american candidate, and Taylor, who's getting a ton of first round draft buzz based on his play at the USA team tryouts. Especially since CJ hasn't played in a game in like 5 years.

If CJ moves on, wouldn't he have to sit out a year?

I believe so. I guess there could be different rules in place for walk ons, but I kinda doubt it. My thinking is CJ will play about 3 minutes per game and leave.

There aren't. He had to get special dispensation to transfer to KU from Memphis without sitting out a year, and it was granted because he never suited up for UM (he broke his foot twice while there.) In fact, he was going to stay at Memphis if transferring was going to force him to sit out a year.

If he's as good as he thinks he is, he should stay. Collins is gone for sure, and X and Tyshawn might go, too. There could be minutes available next year at the guard spots.

Carl's being a fool. Very odd for an Ex-Jayhawk to be doing this to his old school. If Henry had signed a letter of intent then I wish Self would have told him to have fun in Europe. Kansas would still be the favorites to win it all without them.

Well, not really.

Close enough to make a very good argument for them.

Who are you thinking? Villanova?

Nova and Texas will be tough outs even with Henry, I think. You can throw MSU and Purdue into the mix, too. I think UNC is probably a bit overrated, but they're always dangerous. UK is a total wildcard, though I'd love to see them faceplant.

I just can't see UK being that good yet, relying on a ton of frosh. I like Mich St. although losing Suton is going to hurt. UNC isn't going to be good enough to beat KU. Basically I would go right now.

If Henry stays, I'd go KU, Nova, UT, MSU.

"I don't know," he said. "I'm a little concerned. I don't want to sound like the old head, like things aren't the way they used to be, but something has got to be done. Because you look at the teams this year that were very successful, a couple of them have been outed for what they did. And next year, when it comes time for college basketball to start again, they'll talk about certain coaches as being great recruiters that I know cheat, you know. And I could be a great recruiter if I was giving kids money, or if I was changing grades on a kid, I'd be a great recruiter, but that's where it is right now."

I'm going to guess that Calipari is one of them. After that, who knows.

For Williams to be all worked up, wouldn't it possibly be someone in his own conference he was talking about? Since that would be the teams he would be competing against the most for recruits?

I was thinking the same thing. Cal is the obvious one, but there's got to be someone closer to home that's got him so upset. I can't think of anyone in the ACC reputed to be shady, though. Could he also be talking about UConn? Not the ACC, but Williams probably clashes with him quite a bit while recruiting.

Yes he is.

Hey, have you heard any recent news on Wayne Blackshear? I'm hearing rumors that he may have peaked early, and folks are wondering if he's not quite the prospect they once thought he was.

blackshear is talented, it's just that there are doubts that he's a guard. he doesn't shoot well, he doesn't guard well, and he absolutely got waxed head-to-head against brandon paul. i don't want him at this point if it means missing out on bradley beal, who self is hot after as well. i don't expect to beat kansas out for a recruit, though, even one that isn't seriously considering them at this point (even though beal is, which just makes it tougher).

sam thompson is the player out of that class that we really need. he's the one with the highest ceiling.

Barnes, Beal, and Perry Ellis are the three guys I want most during the next few years.

Blackshear scared me off the moment he left his team during the middle of the season. No thanks.

Perry Ellis. hehe
