Best class since the Fab 5.

\:D/

Don't know about that. It's a great class, but best since Fab 5?

yeah plus most of the fab 5 stayed 2, 3, 3, 4 and 4 years. most of these UK guys are 1 or 2 and gone.

it will be interesting down the road to see which group of recruits ultimately made more money during college.

Off rankings the only one thats pry close is one of the Duke ones. And most of those guys ratings were pumped up after they committed to Duke. I would say your calss with Chalmers, but wasn't Rush rated oddly because of his age?

Has to be Kentucky. Inflation over a 15 year period.

UK has

#1 PG Wall

#2 C Cousins

#4 C Orton

#6 PG Bledsoe

#10 SG Hood

JC Dodson

No doubt, that's a ton of talent. But I don't know if Bledsoe or Orton will see the floor much. I'm curious to see how Orton fits into the system.

That KU class you mentioned had 4 five stars, if you include Downs, who transferred. Was it better than this year's UK? Hard to say. Won us a NC. But we had fewer players. Top four is an even draw. Still, I'll give the edge to UK.

#1 SF Wright

#2 PG Chalmers

#4 SF Rush

#5 SF Downs

The 02 UNC class was damn good, too. I'm hard-pressed to give the edge to UK over this one. But UK does have MORE players, so you could make the argument there.

#1 PG Felton

#1 SG McCants

#5 PF May

NR 4* C Byron Sanders

The 07 tOSU class was great. Again, not the volume of players as this UK class.

#1 C Oden

#2 SG Cook

#4 PG Conley

#8 SF Lighty

but what about the 07 UNC class? Same amount of players. Three guys ranked tops at their position. Won a NC. I'd say this was a better class, personally.

#1 PG Lawson

#1 SG Ellington

#1 PF B. Wright

#5 C Thompson

#11 C Stepheson

#18 SF Graves

The JJ Redick/Shelden Williams class, the Greg Paulus/Josh McRoberts class, or the Jason Williams/Carlos Boozer/Mike Dunleavy class?

EDIT: My memory is fuzzy exactly when some of the players came in.

If I had to guess the Duke order would be

Boozer/Dunleavy/Williams

Redick/Williams/Dockery

Paulus/McRoberts

What about Florida's Class of 2004 as one of the great recruiting classes ever? Corey Brewer, Joaqim Noah, Al Hortford, Taurean Green were part of that class, not to mention a few NFL draft pick Cornelius Ingram was part of that basketball class. All that class did was send all five of those players to either the NBA or the NFL. Not to mention all but Ingram help contribute to Florida's back to back championships.

don't look now, but tracy abrams has moved ahead of blackshear, shaw, and thompson to become the hoops report #1 prep in illinois. also of note, dre henley has also jumped ahead of them to #2.

actually, looking at it again, he's held onto the #1 ranking, he's been there all along.

I'm just going to throw all my thoughts in one post. It seems to me like Henley could be a Roger Powell type. Nice midrange game, and an instinctive rebounder.

I'm sure playing with Mike Shaw will help his ranking a lot. There was a nice write up on Shaw in the tribune a few days ago. Here is the link: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-talk-mcgrath-shawmay26,0,4153315.story

I know UK doesnt mind getting their hands dirty to win, but this has some eerie parallels to the Sampson situation at IU. Cal should not have to cheat to win at UK, so I think they will be ok. But as we saw with Sampson it can be hard for a serial cheater to resist the urge. Also in reading the papers from Memphis, I am surprised by the level of surprise over the charges. Anyone with half a brain knew they were cheating, and it was only a matter of time before getting pinched. This was more inevitable than it was surprising IMO.

My problem is that the NCAA waited until after Cal was gone to do anythign about it.

As for Henley, I haven't seen him play, but if he is better than Shaw that is one hell of a team.

So that means that Derrick Rose and Darrell Arthur *might* both have been ineligible during the Final Four a couple of seasons ago...

Yep. I think we all know what this means. Duke is our new national champion. Just ask Dick Vitale.

I think maybe I was a bit wrong about Bruce Weber's recruiting. I'm glad he wasn't cheating to land Rose and Gordon. I wonder now too if what the Illiniboard swears about Kansas is also true?

Your logic is impeccable.

You're completely right there is no way that Kansas could be involved in any wrong doing. The Collins-Longstreet allegations, the Arthur not really passing high school, and the Darnell Jackson getting paid were all just stories. Poor Bill had no idea any of this was going on. At the very least it probably should raise some eyebrows, but thanks for pointing out that there is nothing to any of it with a well thought out answer.

Oh no. You got us. I'll contact the KUAD about getting that banner taken down. I thought we had a chance at getting away with it until you got on the case.

Actually if you contact the KUAD please ask him if he can change the acronym to UK since you are the University of Kansas and allegedly an institute for higher learning.
