am i the only one who finds the sedin twins to be incredibly annoying? they wanted NHL teams to draft them together, they've played on the same line their entire careers, and they just signed the same contract. i know you're identical twins but God, develop your own persona.

I find it difficult to take them seriously for exactly this reason. Grow up.

They don't call them the Sedin sisters for nothing.

I was reading the preview for NHL2010 in this month's Game Informer magazine and they have a screen shot of Ben Eager fighting a faceless Canuck, you can only see the Canuck's arm. The caption reads....

"Which Canuck is throwing punches? It can't be Alex Burrows, because this guy's not trying to grab hair like a sissy!"

So the fall back of the Wings not keeping Hossa was that they would have room to keep depth guys like Hudler and Samuelson. They have lost both of them also. With Lidstrom getting old, the Wings taking a hit in free agency and the improvement from Hawks, Ducks, and Flames, I am currently predicting the Wings do not get home ice in the first round. They do have room to make some depth moves at forward, but may be more advised to stand pat and make a move at the deadline for a better forward who may come available.

i think the Wings end up 4th in the conference, Hawks 1st or 2nd. i reeeeeally like what the Kings did by getting smyth and scuderi, but they're still at best 7-8 unless kopitar emerges as a top 10 center in the league sooner than i expect. i think, right now, you can possibly safely say that Colorado and maybe Phoenix end up out of the playoffs. i don't like the Preds, but i never do. i think there's a good chance that the Jackets fall back to earth a bit. don't really like dallas either, but turco SHOULD bounce back unless he really is just an awful goalie. anaheim is not the force they were on defense. losing pronger is a HUGE blow. sbisa, boynton, and mccarthy don't even begin to end up on the level pronger has been at the last few years. they probably improved their offense a bit, but i'm not convinced they're a better team than they were last year. as of right now, i'd say something like this seems likely:

*1. Chicago

*2. Calgary

*3. San Jose

4. Detroit

5. Vancouver

6. St. Louis

7. Minnesota

8. Los Angeles (obv. optimistic but I think they have a real good shot)

it should be a really, really tight finish again.

Obama has thanked Russia for contributions Russians, such as yourself, have made to this country and nation's capital.

"As a resident of Washington, D.C., I continue to benefit from the contributions of Russians — specifically, from Alexander Ovechkin. We're very pleased to have him in Washington, D.C."

I know it hasn't been discussed here in awhile, but Reinsdorf has dropped his bid to buy the Coyotes and the NHL has put in its own bid.

I'm really annoyed with all the effort the NHL is going to in order to keep the team away from Balsillie and in Phoenix. And I've not heard a valid argument for it, except that Bettman's ego won't let him see the obvious: THEY DON'T LIKE HOCKEY IN [expletive] ARIZONA!

There is no question that a team in Hamilton would thrive. Packed houses, instant rivalries with at least two other teams and probably more like four or five (including the EC Canadian teams and Detroit, if only for geographic proximity).

The bankruptcy judge should tell the NHL to stuff it. Overrule the BoG vote against Balsillie and set a reasonable relocation fee and make it happen. While the logistics of moving the team in time for this reason seem unlikely, they should do it.

Interestingly, regular ticket sales don't start until Monday. That's pretty late.

I wasn't even aware of this, but apparently Vs. has been taken off the air for Directv subscribers. Not such a good thing with NHL season approaching.

Usually they work a deal out before it comes to this. I tend to side with Directv on this one though. Vs. generally sucks. I don't think they are in a very strong position to negotiate.

I read that there was an issue, but didn't realize they had taken it off the air already. I have to side with Directv as well. Versus sucks. It's completely worthless 99% of the time. And since I decided to get the center ice package last year, and will go with it again this year, I have no need for it.
