i think we did a little bit, although the first rounders are late first round picks and joffrey lupul had to go away (salary). i'm disappointed that sbisa is going; i think he'll be a solid player. we did need a top defenseman though.

It sounds like the Hawks could have had Pronger but elected to pass due to the asking price. Personally, I thought it was the right move to pass on Pronger. The Hawks are not in a 'win it now, cause the window is closing" mode, so trading for Pronger did not make sense to me.

 

Pronger going to Philly is a decent move, even tho I do think they slightly overpaid. But on the flip side at least you didn't overpay for a player who can't play anymore. Pronger can still play and play effectively for a couple of yrs, unlike a certain ex Flyer who Philly acquired that was a big name but completely crapped his pants during his tenure in Philly. Truffle you should know who I am talking about.

This happens in hockey often, trading a potential free agent so another team can have a couple of days to try to sign him. Team like Florida knows they are not going to sign him, get a pick and a shot at signing leopold. I am actually surprised it doesnt happen more in other sports.

I'm happy the Devils re-signed Oduya, but I'd be ecstatic if they signed Komisarek. Knowing the Devils, they'll sit on their hands and grab the leftover scraps at the end of the summer.

I'm not happy with the Devils. I wanted Havlat, Cammalleri and Mike Komisarek. We got none of the above. Meanwhile, Gionta, Madden and others all gone. Granted, I didn't want to overpay to keep them and I know Lou isn't a big player in the FA market, but what gives? We're gonna be playing all rookies next season?

the flyers' main move was pronger so they've been predictably quiet in free agency. knuble was always going to leave because we couldn't afford him.
