In 'n Out's exclusion is devasting to this poll

I refuse to vote just for this reason.

It would be comparable to creating a poll asking who the best baseball player of all time is, and leaving Babe Ruth off the list.

For those of you that are not familiar with In n Out, that's all they do. When you get there, there is no need to stare at the menu for 15 minutes wondering what to order. They make a hamburger or a cheeseburger. That's it. The waiting lines to get through the drive through are always 10+ cars deep, whereas many other places you can zip right through with no wait.

If you want a chicken sandwich, go somewhere else. You won't get one at In n Out.

In n Out, the Babe Ruth of burgers.

Ironically, I made an argument against places like In n Out in the sub thread by saying these polls should exclude places that aren't chains across the nation.

But, even though In n Out isn't a national chain, they could probably hold their own in this competition.

However, I sure hope they wash their hands before cooking my next burger.

Despite my recently-acquired love for Five Guys, I'm obligated to point out that they also serve hot dogs at many locations, as well as grilled cheese and veggie sandwiches.

I'd never eat one myself (well, maybe a grilled cheese), but they do have other things besides burgers.

That's true for the Five Guys close to me. They have everything you mentioned.

Before I left for deployment, Five Guys was my choice for "last meal" with my wife. (we had better, "proper" last meals the entire week, I just wanted the last one to be 5 guys.) It was my second time ever eating there - her first. She couldnt believe it. We must had that look on our face that the workers must know so well because the guy asked us "is this yall first time eating here?" We both said yes..even though Id had it once before. He told us "yall about to be in for a suprise! I hope yall dont burn yall wrists off." I didnt know what the hell that meant. My wife got the bag from him, then I remembered. The wife was shocked that she had to push her hand through about 8 inches of fries to get to the burgers. She burned the [expletive] out of her wrist and forearm. She got the "small" size burger and was amazed. She wanted another one so bad but talked hersefl out of it.

Who's been to both 5 Guys and In&Outs and can tell me which is better?

Anyone see the NBC News special on Obama last night?

During one part, the Pres made a Five Guys run. Three black SUVs pulled up at the joint, he got out, pressed the flesh with everyone in the place and then gave his order at the counter. Then it showed him coming back to the White House carrying two huge bags full of burgers and fries. He even treated Brian Williams to a cheeseburger (ketchup only).

So, for the record ... Obama votes for Five Guys, too.

I have been to both in the same week before. 5 Guys is good, but it's not In N Out good.

5 Guys. In & Out is definitely good, but the burgers aren't as big or filling as the ones from 5 Guys, plus the 5 Guys' fries are worth it by themselves. The In & Out fries are just typical fries.

I think In N Out is plenty filling, considering you can get a double double, 3 x 3, or 4 x 4 depending on how hungry you are. I usually just get a double double, but have gotten a 3 x 3 when I'm especially hungry.

5 Guys doesn't need to resort to piling on wimpy patties to make a burger more filling. 2 thick patties is more than enough.

did I mention all the toppings you want for free at 5 guys? Yeah, let's say that again. Free mushrooms, free bacon....free everything

I'm almost positive the bacon wasn't free when I went, otherwise I wouldn't have complained about the price.

and it might be different out east, than in STL, because STL sucks like that.

The bacon is not free. Cheeseburgers cost more than hamburgers, and bacon cheeseburgers cost more than cheeseburgers. I think you can get a bacon burger without the cheese for the same price as a cheeseburger.

if i'm really hungry and don't care about hating myself after i eat, five guys it is. if i'm pretty hungry and don't want to feel grease seeping through my pores the rest of the day, i'd choose in 'n out.

I stopped to chat with friends at the local bar on my way home yesterday. They don't serve food there, but people have wings and pizza delivered all the time. Two guys walked in with bags from five guys and everybody there started drooling. The aroma completely changed the atmosphere. I had to leave.

i had an elevator ride with 4 women who had just returned to the office with bags from five guys...it took everything i had not to beat them and take their burgers.

I lived in L.A. for three years, and had plenty of In 'N Out while I was there. I've since moved back to the East coast and eaten my fair share of Five Guys, and I can say without reservation that Five Guys is far superior. In 'N Out is good, definitely a step above your typical fast food burger, but Five Guys burgers are in an entirely different class. Plus, what you get on your burger is much more customizable at Five Guys, and the fries are 1,000,000x better.
