FYI we should actually be using the Big Boy rather than the Big Mac. Big Boy's signature sandwich was called the Big Boy and it is identical to the Big Mac. Big Boys sandwich came well before McDonald's. The Big Mac was created by an owner of a McDonald's who said he created it to compete with the Big Boy.

No Five Guys?

Never heard of it. Is it a big a chain? Because Im in the Navy, lived for years in 4 different states and have never heard a word about it. Same goes for In and Outs. :?

Up and down the East Coast and now into the Midwest.

we've got a five guys here in nashville now, i'm going to have to hit it up.

In 'n Out's overratedness is devasting to the credibility of West Coasters who rave about it

FYP

no, in 'n out burger is awesome. it's one of the few fast food burgers you can eat without a feeling of self-loathing followed by a half hour of diarrhea.

Pooping within 3 days of eating fast food is not diarrhea.

pooping with half of the burger still in your hand is diarrhea.

The best burger I ever had was the 8th Avenue at Jon's Burgers in Ft. Worth. When I lived in Cowtown in the mid-late nineties, I would have one a week. It was in a little place right across from the TCU campus.I went back there a year or so ago, and there was a new place there. It looked different and the burgers had different names. I tried it anyway. It wasn't the same.

I've had a burgers from a lot of the places mentioned in the poll, as well as ones mentioned in this thread (Backyard Burger, Five Guys, In N Out), and I would say In N Out is easily the best burger. Whenever I go to CA, In N Out is the very first stop I make.

I'm going to be making several trips to Chicago next month, and as a guy who loves cheeseburgers, I'm leaning towards checking out this Five Guys that you folks are mentioning.

Why are they so good? I'm a fan of Steak & Shake, so how does Five Guys compare?

Whiteflag- When i started this thread, Id never heard of 5 Guys or In&Out. I checked online to see if either of them were in my area. There is no In&Out, but there is a 5 Guys tucked away in a little outlet mall out in town. I go there and tell the chick behind the counter to give me the best tasting burger they have. This was yesterdy around 2pm. I didnt look at a menu, a price list...nothing. She tried asking me what I liked on my burger, I said I had no preferences, I just wanted to see what the fuss was about so make me something that sells well, you know, something that people often ask for. She gives me a bacon double cheese burger and some fries. First of all, its huge and thick as i dont know what. The damn thing was incredible. You have to ignore the enormous amount of greese that comes with this burger, but if you do that, I think you'll find that its the best tasting cheese burger you've had. Ive been eating SteakNShake burgers for 10 years and can tell you that 5 Guys is better. I cant really describe what makes them taste so good. After you have one, you see if you can explain it.

5 Guys trounces S&S. I've also enjoyed In & Out, but their burgers seem really thin and less filling compared to what you get at 5 Guys, plus 5 Guys' fries pretty much beats out everyone else, plus you only need a singe regular order of fries to feed like 3 people sine they basically fill the bag with them.

Be warned: 5 Guys in Chicago is pretty pricey. I don't know why the prices jumped here compared to where else I've been to them in the country, but the burgers that were around $3 are now around $5.

I've tried Five Guys, and they're good. The juiciness reminds me of Wendy's years ago when they were billed as hot and juicy (juicy meats, juicy toppings, and lots of napkins). Char-broiled burgers are generally my favorite, but Five Guys is close.

Five Guys are just big, juicy, greasy burgers.

Well, yeah. It's not like we're talking restaurant-quality burgers with this list. That's a whole other thing.

So I was talking with some co-workers today to see if anyone had been to Five Guys, and one of them mentioned this place: http://www.thecounterburger.com/lincolnpark/

Anyone ever been here? He was raving about it, and said that it's more of a bar than a sit-down restaurant. The menu is full of high-falutin' toppings like dried cranberries, herb goat cheese spread and carmelized onion marmalade. :-s

Five Guys is good. But a cheeseburger, small fries and a drink is $10 after tax.

In-n-Out is great. It makes me a sad panda that they refuse to expand outside of California, Nevada and Arizona.

Excellent burgers, and they're truly giganic, but it's VERY expensive.

There's no such thing as a "small fries" at Five Guys. It's either large or a regular, and a regular order is still half the bag filled with fries.

Prices must have gone up. I could get that same meal for about $6 back in State College

I think it varies depending on the location.

1) It's called a regular, but it's still the smallest you can buy.

2) I've heard other people complain that the new markets for Five Guys are priced significantly more.

anything from Kuma's corner.

I just looked at their menu.

SLAYER Pile of fries topped with a ½ lb. Burger, Chili, Cherry Peppers, Andouille, Onions, Jack Cheese, and Anger

Any burger with anger as an ingredient sounds awesome to me.
