when the game's lineup was announced, i knew that i would never listen for even one second. those dudes are objectively worse than the guys on wscr and espn, which is hard to do. I am honestly shocked anyone listens.

kap and haugh? good god.

Just look at this garbage that Haugh writes.

Start with Bryant, the closest thing to Chipper Jones the Cubs have seen since the former Braves third baseman retired. Bryant entered Wednesday night's action with 22 home runs in 63 games in Double A. If Bryant stays in Tennessee much longer, they will write country-music songs about him.

What the hell is that?

@CblackCHC: It's been fun San Diego! Getting on a plane to head back to tennessee. Can't wait to be back on the mound on Sunday.

Family? He was born there.

Johnson should be back any day, right?

Barring any setbacks, I'd guess he's probably another two weeks away from Tennessee. Per Arizona Phil, he threw 1 inning/15 pitches on June 2nd. Assuming a normal rehab progression of adding 15 pitches per outing, he'd be at 75 pitches by June 22nd and then would get bumped back up to Tennessee. We'll probably see him in a few AZL Cubs box scores.

Soler currently is rehabbing at the Cubs' complex in Mesa, Ariz., hoping to return later this month.

"It has been frustrating," top player development executive Jason McLeod said. "When he has played, even though it has been very few at-bats, his approach and pitch recognition have been great. He has played good defense in the outfield, throws to the right base, good base-running. … He just hasn't been out there enough to show us how he can do over an extended period of time."

"He's an unbelievable talent," Bryant said. "It's just a shame he's hurt. He's a presence you can't ignore — 6 feet 4, 240 pounds — has a cannon for an arm and hits to all fields. I'm definitely looking forward to getting him back here and hitting with him. It's always good to have someone like that hitting behind you."

...

McLeod said the Cubs are being extra cautious with Soler's hamstring after his second DL stint in late May. They have been looking into whether he has been hydrated properly, a common cause of players with muscle-tightening problems.

"We just want him fully ready so that when he does come back he can stay out on the field," McLeod said.

While in Arizona, Soler has been able to work out and play alongside Manny Ramirez, who was in Mesa getting ready for his debut as player-coach for Iowa. McLeod said it's good for Soler and the rookie prospects to see Ramirez's work ethic.

9. Daniel Vogelbach, 1B, Age: 21

Not necessarily a disappointing season, but it certainly is a modest step forward for the former second round pick. Vogelbach, who is hitting .262/.352/.398, is still showing an elite eye at the plate (11.5% BB-rate), but his power (.136 ISO) would be a career low.

A DH prospect with a sub .400 SLG is not necessarily disappointing?

That list is depressing.

Vogelbach shouldn't be on there, nor should Stinnett. I'd put Tseng and Torres above them for sure.

I'm crossing my fingers that the new guy is a better prospect than Vogelbach, but I really think they are more similar than dissimilar.

Can you possibly justify why?

They have similar body types, are three months apart in age and both need to hit a hell of a lot to make it in the majors. However, Schwarber is a guy who was able to catch in college and should be able to at least handle LF or 1B as a pro, while Vogelbach is a guy who was questionable to be able to stick at 1B from the day he was drafted out of high school. Vogelbach did shred the NWL as an 18 year old.

But I think a big difference is the 20/30 pounds on their not tall at all frames. Vogelbach was "praised" for getting down to where he was at to at least give himself a chance, but now he can't hit. Schwarber should not have to actually lose weight, and there is still a chance he can stick at C, a position where even modest offense would make him extremely valuable.

That makes no sense at all. The new guy has a slim chance of sticking at C, a better chance of sticking in LF, and is pretty much guaranteed to be able to play 1B at a solid level. Vogelbach has none of that going for him.

If he can't stick at catcher where is he going to play? He's probably best suited for DH. They have a similar batting profile. Good eye, etc.

Why are you always a dick to me?

Catcher or DH is not really the choice. He can probably play LF or 1B. Vogelbach can barely even be considered a 1B prospect.

He just asked you to defend your position. Don't be so sensitive.
