It's like a who's who of all the Chicago radio personalities that I can't stand. Keep them all in one place...away from my ears.

J Hood and Tim Doyle could be interesting.

Doyle is a goof but I kind of liked him on the BTN. Have no idea what he would be like discussing anything outside of college basketball. J Hood would piss me off routinely but could be really good at times.

Ok, so Webio fired Mike North on Friday, but it looks like there's a lot more to that story.

On Friday, investor David Hernandez fired North and others as executives from their Internet start-up. The same day, the FBI executed search warrants on the Chicago office of NextStep Medical Staffing and NextStep Financial, two ventures with ties to Hernandez.

NextStep Medical Staffing, which Hernandez owns, is the title sponsor of "Monsters in the Morning," the show hosted by North and Dan Jiggetts that made its debut in January on Comcast SportsNet Chicago, with an audio simulcast on the Web site.

Chet Coppock, the longtime Chicago sportscaster, said he plans to show up for his scheduled 3 p.m. program Monday at the Morton Grove studios of Internet-based Chicago Sports Webio. That's despite the fact that he said one of his latest paychecks bounced and the other hasn't arrived.

Hernandez said Sunday that the FBI action was connected to the actions of a "disgruntled ex-employee who I caught misappropriating funds" and fired several weeks ago.

Never listened, by the horrible commercials and the presence of North makes me wish for the company's demise.

The Feds just charged the founder, who apparently declared bankruptcy about 5 times this decade.

Which makes you wonder what North, who has shown himself to be pretty shrewd with his career, was thinking getting into business with this dude.

Really? Shrewd? He was a hot dog vendor who was lucky to get a gig as a radio host then profited off the fact that so many fans are idiots that like to hear an idiot talk like them. He's still an idiot.

He's still an idiot, but how many hot dog vendors become millionaire radio stars for the better part of a decade. It's not just luck.

Exactly. The dude turned a hot dog vendor gig into a $1.5 million contract at the Score at one point. You have to make some right moves to make that happen. He surely had the ball bounce in his favor a few times, no doubt, but he still parlayed that into a pretty successful career, like him or not. (not!)

Why not?

He may of got a lucky break, but at some point you have to marketable, and he has been to warrant a contract that paid him 1.5 million a year. Is that pure luck?

I don't see why it can't be, especially if he can never duplicate that success.

Being marketable does not make one shrewd. You think Manny is shrewd? Manny is a damn fine hitter of baseballs, but that is all. Mike North spoke about sports unintelligently to an audience that ate that stuff up. Doesn't make him shrewd.

He duplicated that success over a 10 year period. Luck is winning the lottery, not an extended career.

I guess luck is whatever you want it to be, so it's pointless to discuss it in these terms.

What is it then? Is marketability a better word? He marketed his limited ability pretty well. Did he not?
