Any other Chicago people have their Comcast cable go out tonight? I had to watch the second half of the Michigan game at a bar because mine went completely out. Great comeback by Illinois at the end there, but Western Kentucky was the better team.

Hahahha, they absolutely were not the better team. If you want me to, I'll pull out every metric ever invented that shows Illinois was the better basketball team. Western Kentucky played the better game, yeah, of course genius, that's what the final score proves. Illinois was absolutely the better basketball team.

And people wonder why Michigan is hated universally, and their fans are treated as loudmouth [expletive] buffoons.

Bitter Illinois fan face.

Stealing material from Derwood is one step above something I can't think of right now.

Well, you figured out the only reason I said it - because Derwood (apparently, according to you) said it first.

There's no other explanation because a fan of a team who just lost a game they should've won certainly wouldn't lead to said fan being pissed off.

I'm not sure about you, but I don't think that a team that trailed by double digits for over half of a game and was down 15 with 3:27 left deserved to win or should have won said game.

And when the Cubs come out and lose a game to the Nationals this year, I want you out front and center saying, the Nationals are clearly the superior team. Western Kentucky won because they hit over 50% of their 3s. If you think this would be a common occurence for them, then I don't know what to say. I guess Illinois doesn't have the same lock down defense that Florida [expletive] International does.

I never said that Western Kentucky was the better team. The way the two teams played, WKU deserved to win. Plain and simple.

i think that illinois had a great season considering that every call went against them and every loose ball bounced to their opposition. how many other teams could win 24 games under those conditions? not many, i say.

I kind of figured Illinois was in trouble with the injury. I thought they might eek this one out though, and get beat in the next round. Kind of sucks, but I think this was a surprise season all around for them. They need to build on it, and not wallow in the fact that they got beat in the tourney early.

Just came to post that I'm finding plenty of reasons to still watch the tourney and that the Big Ten still stinks.

Now watch Marquette lose

The Big Ten still stinks because it was supposed to go 2-2 and went 2-2?

I still have no idea why I have Purdue in the Elite Eight. What was I thinking?

Yes. It was supposed to stink and it has stunk.

I don't know. I didn't have them beating UNI

That's pretty ignorant, unless your definition of stunk is "anything outside of perfection".

I think his definition of stunk is "anything the Big Ten does."

I mean, I'm fully in agreement that Illinois stunk. Sure, they were playing without their senior starting PG and still made a game of it when they woke up, but for 37 minutes, they stunk. Minnesota? Stunk (and probably the most questionable BT selection). If Michigan stunk, then I guess they stunk less than Clemson. The Purdue game was the opposite of the Illinois game. They owned about 37 minutes of the game, and then let it get interesting at the end.

Illinois was bad. I really dislike when I root for a team that I generally don't, and then they stink. So I'm not happy with your Illini. Minnesota didn't play well, but they weren't supposed to win. The Michigan-Clemson game may have been sloppy, but the Wolverines controlled the game and beat a higher-seeded, more talented team. Purdue controlled most the entire game. Two teams were supposed to win, and two teams won. Overall, the day was less than even because a 5-seed losing outweighs a 10-seed winning. That's not sufficient for stinking in my book though. I would also say tonight offers a good chance at redemption in a 5-12 game.

Is the Big Ten visually pleasing? Not exactly. Is it effective? Generally.

The whole Illinois thing is starting to sound like Meph and Florida.

If CSU-Northridge beat Memphis yesterday would you say Northridge was the better team?

There's a difference between saying Illinois was better a team this season than Western Kentucky but lost on this one occasion, compared to invalidating the loss altogether as Meph did with Florida/Ole Miss.

Illinois losing wouldn't be so bad if Maryland had also lost. Everyone here assumes that I thought Illinois was going to make a run. Like most people, I thought they'd have a tough time with W Kentucky. I did think they could beat Gonzaga but they had no chance against UNC.

Illinois had a much better season than I expected going in. Maybe over the offseason McCamey will decide to play hard all the time next year. Next year should be a fun year for the Big 10.
