Ugly half, but at least Michigan is winning. I thought Clemson would come out a lot stronger than they actually did, so I am pleasantly surprised, although like someone said if they could make a jumpshot they'd be up big.

 

Will be interesting to see what adjustments they make. Maybe they will double Manny and hopefully open the lane for Sims.

meh in most pools the 8-9 results mean nothing. i suppose if you were really pining for the 10 grand from yahoo then it hurts, but if you're in an office pool with 20 people, the big thing is keeping your final four and champion, not losing an 8-9 game.

 

i didn't know that isaiah thomas played for u-dubs... i feel better about picking them to go to the elite eight now.

i get what your saying, but in the (Points= seed x round) format, there the most important games until the weekend.

 

I guess it's gimmicky and different but that seems like a stupid way to run a pool. Much like the fools who just go 1-2-3-4-5-6 so you get no credit for picking the champ. I never liked the doubling format either.

 

How would you do it then, out of curiosity?

 

I've committed to the 1-2-4-8-12-16 format. Much less than that at the end and you can get no credit for the deep rounds which is what should really count. Much more and the first couple rounds might not matter.

I like that. I think 32 for the champ is ridiculous, but it should still be a lot.

Digger just tore the Big Ten to shreds again on ESPN.

 

Yeah, the conference commissioner must have kicked him in the nuts or something the way he hates on the B10. And the awesome part of it is how he just ignores facts to try to get his point across. It's hard to make Vitale sound like the most rational guy in the room, but Digger just pulled it off.

are we going to get UI or oklahoma for the nightcap down here?

 

Everything I've seen has Channel 4 showing UI for the late game. I'm in Peoria right now so I should get it here. I just have to decide if I want to watch it a a bar or Big Al's.

I'm starting to think Purnell is a good teacher of the game, but horrible at making changes throughout the season. This is about the 5th season in a row where they've been great out of the gate and faded terribly down the stretch. They even did well the 1st half of the ACC season this year before they started crapping the bed again.

yeah they're definitely good for a patriot league, but they're losing just about everybody. holy cross has had sustained success in the 2000s; american is going to be horrendous next year.

So does anyone else have a team that's their bracket nemesis? A team they can never correctly place, no matter what? I now make two brackets every year now, one where I have Duke going out early and one late, because they always screw with me.

Clemson is schizo. They can play so well and then just look so bad sometimes. Kind of a fitting match up with Michigan.
