Has a top pick ever re entered the draft? And how did it work out? It's always something that seems like an obvious bluff to me. Hard to believe any GM would do much more than laugh at the notion.

Bo Jackson did it. Selected first overall in 86 by the Bucs but didn't sign out of principle. He was then selected in 87 by the Raiders in the 7th round.

San Francisco 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree is prepared to sit out this season and re-enter the NFL draft in 2010, David Wells, Crabtree's cousin and adviser, said Thursday.

Yeah sure. Nice bluff. And if does go through with it, I hope the NFL owners collude against his entitled ass and don't draft him at all next year.

Wasn't it you that was in love with Crabtree, or am I thinking of someone else?

I was probably one of the bigger Crabtree fans on the board before the draft. He's very talented, I think.

Not sure about this, though.

DEFINITELY not me. I can't stand him and I'm glad Ole Miss stifled him down in his final college game.

I wasn't big on anyone in this draft. I was a massive Patrick Willis homer several years ago and I'm happy to say that my man-crush continues because he's still such a badass.

Ahhhh...yeah Willis was the one I was thinking of. Dunno why in the world I had Crabtree stuck in my head.

they lied to him about the legality of a "visit" and it cost him his senior year of baseball at Auburn. So yes, certainly nothing to "lol" about I think. Bo was quite pissed about that.

Why does most of the media think Donovan McNabb is a great to an elite QB? He's not even really close.

His numbers are fairly average when you look at him, and he's only been to one Super Bowl.

Irrelevant.

Dan Marino only went to one Super Bowl but he's considered a great QB.

Oh take it easy...I didn't know, and I figured the princple was "they won't pay me enough"...so describing it as a "principle" amused me. That's why I asked.

As soccer10k said, the Super Bowl thing is irrelevant when evaluating an individual's performance. Super Bowl appearances are a team accomplishment, there's only so much an individual can do in that regard.

As for McNabb's stats, he's rarely had a strong receiving corps to throw to. When he has (2004 with TO), he's put up impressive numbers: 64 comp %, 31:8 TD:INT, 12.9 y/c, 104.7 QB rating. Opinions on McNabb vary wildly and each person' opinion generally depends on how much credit they give him for throwing to sub-par receivers most of his career.

Top draft pick Malcolm Jenkins has agreed to terms on a five-year year contract with the New Orleans Saints and is expected to report to training camp Monday, NFL sources confirmed Sunday night.

The agreement ends the cornerback's 10-day contract dispute, the longest by a Saints rookie this decade. The previous longest had been eight days by running back Deuce McAllister in 2001 and receiver Devery Henderson in 2004.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed. But it is believed to be worth approximately $19 million with guarantees around $11 million and includes a $4.3 million escalator clause in the last year.

Any of you guys who follow that Yankee conference know anything about Jenkins?

It was nice to have football back last night - even if it was just a preseason game.

Granted it was a preseason game and generally meaningless, but the Titans looked good overall. Every running back had a good game, the lines improved as the game went on and both Kerry Collins and Patrick Ramsey looked solid. Vince Young struggled early, but seemed to get better as the game went on. The defense was really good while the starters were in.

Would it be worth making a preseason games thread or just use this one?

Reading up on the situation (I also did not know), Bo Jackson is really an exception that has nothing to do with a Crabtree holdout and possible re-entry to the draft. In Jackson's case, an NFL team actually took action to undermine his eligibility (in other words, they tried to screw him).

The main point here is, if Crabtree is really interested in more money, holding out an entire season and re-entering the draft is unlikely to produce the result he's looking for. He would likely be drafted lower and paid less.

I've read his scouting reports before. I just want to know the opinion of people who watched him for years.

It sure was good to see those Oilers uniforms in action last night. In fact, that was a battle of the two best uniforms in NFL history.

It was pretty funny to see them in the old Oilers uniforms. The grazing buffalo on the Bills' jersey was humorous as well.

Preseason football is the worst thing in the world.

agreed. I couldn't make it one series before turning it off

When it's my team playing though, I'll watch the whole thing.

I watched every snap of the Titans game last night, but likely won't watch that many games overall in the preseason.

It's nice to get an idea of what some of the young guys can do on your team - even if it is just preseason.
